A total of 18 applicants for sworn positions participated in the physical agility test, which included a timed running exercise, an obstacle course, and a 165-pound dummy drag. This is one of several tasks needed to complete the requirements to become a sworn officer with VCPA.

On May 26, 2021, deputy probation officers from the Oxnard Probation and Post Release Unit conducted a joint operation with investigators from the Oxnard Police Department Special Operations Division targeting high risk and violent offenders in the city of Oxnard. At one location, a loaded handgun and a semi-automatic rifle were located, as well as narcotics and drug paraphernalia suggesting narcotic sales. The offender was arrested for multiple firearms and narcotics related charges, as well as violations of his post release supervision. Great team work and collaboration!!

On this Memorial Day, we honor those men and women who have died while serving in the military. As a reminder, our offices will be closed on Monday, May 31st in observance of this holiday.

Congratulations to all the award recipients of the 2020 Virtual Employee Recognition Awards!

The Chief’s Award goes to Dolores Barnett, Supervising Deputy Probation Officer. SDPO Barnett is the Probation Agency’s lead instructor on force options. In this vital role, she is responsible for overseeing our firearms, Taser, and officer safety training programs. In addition to this important supervisory assignment, SDPO Barnett finds time within her busy schedule to make clothing/accessory items for Probation Agency fundraisers; arrange for officer participation in community events to improve relations between the Agency and the general public; and to sew COVID protective masks together for distribution to CSOs/DPOs and local first responders. SDPO Barnett exemplifies the competent, caring, and compassionate qualities of the Men and Women of the Probation Agency.

The Innovation Award goes to Derek Fouarge, Senior Accountant. Thanks to Mr. Fourage for his courage to streamline five different overtime forms. The new form is comprehensive and intuitive while reducing our carbon footprint. The introduction of the combined form embraces both efficiency and cost effectiveness.
