Our next UCSB Dance Company member spotlight is Jayne Butler! She is a senior at UC Santa Barbara working towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Dance. Jayne grew up just down the coast in Thousand Oaks, CA and has been pursuing dance for as long as she can remember. She has had the honor of training with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York City, the Joffrey Ballet School in Chicago, performing abroad in Germany, Austria, and more! She no longer dreams of being a ballerina in a pretty tutu, but instead is passionate about combining dance with other art forms and exploring a career in Dance Film. Our next UCSB Dance Company member spotlight is Andrew To! Andrew is a Senior BFA Dance major at UCSB. He is passionate about dance and its accessibility within the community. He is president of the Student Association of Dance and an officer in Groove to Streetdance. Both programs provide dance opportunities to students and non students throughout Santa Barbara as well as online, virtually. He is hoping to continue his dance journey after graduation, wherever it takes him. His long term goals are to write for dance magazines and manage dance accessible companies! Dance Major Audition information! Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, all dance major auditions for the 2021-2022 academic year will be done via video submission. The submission deadline is Friday, January 22nd. Video submissions must be posted online (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, or similar site). Our next UCSB Dance Company member spotlight is Kelly Gao! Kelly danced at Dancecapade then joined the West Covina HS Dance Team before becoming a dance major at UCSB. Not only does she have a passion for dance, she also loves numbers. Currently she is a fourth year double majoring in Financial Mathematics / Statistics & Dance.
