Union City Police Explorer Post 298

In the evening hours of November 7th, 2018 a gunman entered an establishment and opened fire. 12 people were killed including Ventura County Sheriff's Department Sergeant Ron Helus. Sgt. Helus was the first on-scene and bravely entered the nightclub in a valiant effort to save lives and stop the gunman. Sgt. Helus was a 29 year veteran of law enforcement, who is survived by his wife and son. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Ventura County Sheriffs Department and all of the families affected by this senseless act of violence.
