Hey y’all, The time has come...WE ARE A WEEK AWAY FROM OUR APPLICATION CLOSING. We have launched our General Member application as well as our Intern application. Both play such an important part in our organization! We encourage y’all to apply to either role. This space should be accessible and we want to extend that opportunity to y’all! Don’t worry about experience, as long as you’re in a position to learn then we are here to help. Both applications will close Friday Octo...ber 16th at 11:59PM PST. Our first meeting is open to EVERYONE. It will be held on Tuesday, October 13th at 6:30PM PST at this Zoom link: https://ucla.zoom.us/j/96208920104. It will serve as our first meeting of the quarter as well as an info session before applications are due. The purpose of making this meeting open and extending our application deadline is simple. We want y’all to see what we’re all about. We want y’all to join a space that you feel comfortable in and that you can give your all in. You can ask what you want at the meeting while hopefully learning a lot about the school-to-prison pipeline and criminalization in the U.S. Hopefully you can make it! Have fun with the responses and don’t stress. If you have any questions PLEASE reach out. We are a resource before anything else! Good luck and we look forward to really meeting y’all, on paper and virtually face-to-face! Find all of our apps, resources, information, etc. at https://linktr.ee/projectBRITE.

"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." (Desmond Tutu). Project BRITE stands in solidarity with Black folks everywhere. Tonight’s protests are in need of our voices and more importantly they’re in need of our actions. We choose to speak out against the senseless murders and horrible treatment of Black folks across the country, across the world. We are providing you with a number of resources given to us by CSC so that we ca...n take action against this horrific treatment. Project BRITE's mission statement is to work to end the school-to-prison pipeline. The school to prison pipeline is just one factor in a large, complex system that acts to systematically disadvantage Black people. A stance against the school-to-prison pipeline is a stance against racism and its horrible grip on this country. We cannot work for this without acknowledging police brutality and the laws and systems of privilege protecting police from justice. Ways to act: - Donate to one of the organizations listed below that support victims of the judicial system - Call and email politicians, police stations, and district attorneys to pressure them to do the right thing - Petition for change and justice - Talk about it! - Share and spread awareness and when you can - Vote Thank you to UCLA CSC for putting together the images and this resource guide: https://docs.google.com//1XOA546OnemSPIacz45nIEq8bRG/edit It has email addresses and phone numbers for the Director of Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights, Mayor Frey, the Minneapolis Police and Police Union, and County Attorney Mike Freeman along with call and email templates for supporting Justice for George Floyd.
