2020 has been a wild ride with more than it’s fair share of challenges and disappointments, but as I reflect here on Thanksgiving Day, I am overwhelmed with happiness, fulfillment, and deep gratitude. First and foremost, I am grateful for my perfect little baby boy who lights up every moment of my life. Ethan has taught me how to let go of perfection and to appreciate the little things in each moment. I love living through his beginner mind and watching how he looks at the w...orld with such wonder and touches things with such curiosity. I smile and laugh a lot more with him around, and I am grateful for how big he has made my heart. I am grateful for my husband. Having a baby during a pandemic has sure tested our marriage but through each new difficulty, we have found an opportunity to learn and grow and appreciate each other more. I can’t imagine life without Andy and I am so grateful that we chose each other as partners. I am also thankful for how much time Covid has given us together as a family this year. What a gift! I am grateful for my family, both the one I was born into (that chose me) and equally the one that I married into (and chose). Family gives life meaning. I am grateful to my parents who have shown me what unconditional love feels like every day of my life. I’m grateful for my warm, cozy house that I’ve spent A LOT of time in this year! I am grateful for my health because with that, everything else is possible. I am grateful for my daily walks in nature that keep me grounded. I’m thankful for my yoga practice that keeps me sane. I’m thankful for all of my students, past and present, who have given meaning to my life’s work. Live, love, light. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

5th TRIMESTER & GOING BACK TO WORK Now I truly understand the deep, collective struggle of all working mamas out there who juggle being a great mom and having a great career. I HAVE SO MUCH RESPECT FOR YOU ALL! It has been an overwhelming week for me. We moved last week and through the commotion of everything going on, my 4 mo old stopped napping and now refuses to take bottles. Meanwhile, I am preparing to go back to work next month and I am feeling all of the emotions th...at go along with that. I never would have imagined that I would love motherhood SO much; these past 4 months have been the best moments of my life. Being a mom has changed me in so many ways, and I have never felt as content as I feel just being at home spending all day with Ethan. The thought of now going back to work (during a pandemic) and being away from my little mama’s boy is really difficult to wrap my brain around. Then there’s the added stress of figuring out how to run my business during COVID. I’m trying to become a tech genius and videographer overnight so that I can continue to run my yoga trainings online. The perfectionist in me fears that things won’t be up to my high standards. I can’t control my internet signal suddenly going out during class, my body isn’t in its prime condition for demonstrating postures, and when do I even have time to work on preparing anything when I’m with my baby 24/7??? It all feels untenable and all of my pre-Mom, business owner stresses that I haven’t felt in months have just suddenly flooded back in. But today, on my morning walk, I was comforted to think of so many amazing women who have forged this path before me. I am nowhere near the first mom to struggle with going back to work and as I look around, I am inspired to see so many examples of women who have established a healthy work/family balance. It gives me hope and courage that I can do the same! Today I am calling on the collective strength from the community of powerful women that I have around me, especially all the working moms out there, who empower and uplift me. Keep shining your light and I’ll keep doing the same!
