Following the publication of the article, the industry saw a sizable increase in construction tech investment. Yes, measuring construction productivity is important for forecasting labor cost and project completion dates, but doing this alone does not solve the problem. Skilled trades are a great career path for students who are graduating high school. There has been some increase in the recent years when it comes to informing students about skilled trades, however, there needs to be a stronger push into the school system in order to give students the freedom to choose the path they want to take after graduation. The trades should not be seen as a "fallback" option for those who do not have interest in pursuing a college degree. Value engineering is an important practice which is especially useful for the construction industry since it allows for cheaper alternatives without throwing away the quality of the job. Making sure that the job is completed at maximum performance is not only the goal for most construction companies, but a necessity as well.
