Our tree technician, Mark led volunteer tree plantings at Tupman and Chandler Parks. Looking forward to many more tree plantings to come!

According to his research, trees are 1.5 to three times more effective than other cooling strategies such as painting rooftops white, and they offer other benefits as well like filtering air pollution and improving mental health. By shading heat trapping surfaces and transpiring waterwhich can lower temperatures through evaporative coolingtrees can help counteract the effects of the urban heat island but whiter and wealthier neighborhoods in the U.S. often enjoy these benefits the most.

This morning, a family worked together with Tree Fresno and the City of Fresno to plant 12 new street trees with irrigation on Pottle Avenue. Can't wait to see these young trees grow. We planted Chinese Pistache, Dessert Willow, and Natchez Crepe Myrtle. The color from all of the foliage and flowers on this street will be beautiful.
Upgrades and expansion to irrigation serving drought tolerant trees would definitely be a plus!
