Boo the Umbrella Cockatoo and the TLZPS birds are excited that we have two new monthly sponsors! Laura Mendoza, and Shelley Hardy (for Tex.) We're so thankful for their support! Here's the link if you'd like to become a sponsor for the parrots & cockatoos, too: http://tlzps.com/donate.html

We've had some donations to acknowledge- thank you! Mallory brought us some soft portable cages and one small plastic portable; we are appreciative as the ones we have are mostly large. Gene donated an XL new cage with toys, bowls & perches, as his gray is always out and never uses it; also he gave us several new blue utility smocks. And to our new residents... Jon Claude is a yellow recessive pied budgie/parakeet. Jon Claude is very busy and loves to fly around. He really hi...t it off with Blue the budgie! His family is moving and he had to stay; Skylar will miss him a lot. They gave a much appreciated donation and included his cage and toys/perches/food & bowls. Ruby is a red spectacled Amazon and knows a lot of words and sounds; he is very lively company. His family had a new baby that caused him great unhappiness so he is staying here. His parents gave a much appreciated donation and included his cage/toys/perches/food & bowls. Baby the yellow headed Amazon was brought here by Linda and her daughter - they found him in an intolerable situation so brought him here. Baby has only one back toe on each foot but he gets around like it has been a lifelong condition; we do not exactly know his background. He likes to walk on a low bridge of wood and stands on a rope perch to eat. Linda included a much appreciated donation, new travel cage/toys/perches & bowls and plans to sponsor him. Boo the umbrella cockatoo (she calls herself Baby all the time) was screaming and disturbing her community so she is here now and being so sweet and adorable! Cindy and her daughter are heartbroken to leave her; they included her new travel cage. A reminder: We do not sell parrots. It is pointless to call and ask.

Lost Parrot: A couple who live nearby have lost their Senegal. Please watch the trees and let them know if you have seen their parrot. Thank you!

What is Blue? If all budgies are parakeets and all conures are parakeets, yet no budgie is a conure and no conure is a budgie, yes, Blue is a parakeet! An exhausted and weak Blue was dropped off here a few weeks ago. He spent a few days in an incubator getting his strength back, and now he is watching TV and making all kinds of noises - even water running! He has been listed on all the sites for missing birds by the kind woman and her daughter who found him and brought him here, and no one has called for him yet. He's a sweet boy and will stay here if not claimed.

Rango the Catalina macaw reminds you that for donations to 501(c)(3) charitable organizations like The Landing Zone Parrot Sanctuary: On top of the standard tax deduction, the Internal Revenue Service has a special provision that will allow more people to easily deduct up to $300 in donations to qualifying charities this year. Following special tax law changes made earlier this year, cash donations of up to $300 made before December 31, 2020, are now deductible when people file their taxes in 2021. you don’t itemize deductions on Schedule A (Form 1040), you (or you and your spouse if filing jointly) can take a charitable deduction of up to $300 for cash contributions made in 2020.

Norman came to us in 2013 feeling very ill and with a missing foot - and missing toes and arthritis in the other foot. He got over his ordeal, with medication, and fits in well with the other macaws. The vet said he would likely pluck himself from the stress, but he learned to manage his disability. We are grateful for the health of our parrots. Happy Thanksgiving. #GivingTuesday is almost here. Please consider donating to TLZPS. Madison, Chelsea, and I all have fundraisers posted. /Cathy
