Happy Father’s Day!

We will surely miss Dorlie’s comments and presence in our bible study. Thankfully we are secure she is in Heaven and dancing on streets of gold.

Sharing this for anyone who is interested.

Are you set up financially if something devastating should happen to you or your spouse? Can you support your family should your husband get ill? Can your husband work, take care of the family, AND you should you become ill? ... Do you have a will or trust on what is to happen to your children should something happen to you and your spouse? You see it DOES matter if you have little to no assets and small children, or you are financially set, you should have a legal document in writing as to what is to happen next. Are you a single mom struggling to make ends meet? What happens if you get sick or have an accident? Who will care for your children? Is there insurance to cover your absence from work? Are you a blended family with some blended assets and some not? Will your entire family be supported should something happen to you? So often women are the poorest prepared to handle an emergency in their life. It is time to stop burying our heads in the sand and pretending all will be well. None of us is promised tomorrow. Join us August 14th, as we welcome Attorney at Law Lisete Silva to our Godmothers Series as she walks us through steps to take to be prepared in case of an emergency.

And so ends week 1 of Chasing Vines bible study. This beautiful poem spoke to me and I share it with you. O God, let something essential happen to me, something more than interesting... or entertaining, or thoughtful. O God, let something essential happen to me, something awesome, something real. Speak to my condition, Lord, and change me somewhere inside where it matters, a change that will burn and tremble and heal and explode me into tears or laughter or love that throbs or screams or keeps a terrible, cleansing silence and dares the dangerous deeds. Let something happen in me which is my real self, God. O God, let something essential and joyful happen in me now, something like the blooming of hope and faith, like a grateful heart, like a surge of awareness of how precious each moment is, that now, not next time, now is the occasion to take off my shoes to see every bush afire, to leap and whirl with neighbor, to gulp the air as sweet wine until I’ve drunk enough to dare to speak the tender word: Thank you I love you You’re beautiful Let’s live forever beginning now and I’m a fool for Christ’s sake.
