Inauguration Day History was made as Mr. Joe Biden and Mrs. Kamala Harris, the first female and Black vice president, were inaugurated on Capitol Hill this week. Years ago it was Mr. Barack Obama who made history himself as the first Black president.... In our store, we hold a copy of an illustrated depiction of the inaugural poem read at Obama's address. This year, the inaugural poem was just as moving. Let us not forget in this time of renewal that a new administration in itself will not change society. It takes the power of the people to continually speak up for what is important and take direct action for all people, especially those who are marginalized and underrepresented. We have several books that are the perfect introduction for children as they artfully introduce themes of resistance, resiliency, self-love, and how to raise yourself up for your voice be heard.
