Happy Hangul Day! October 9- The Korean Alphabet Day, known as Hangeul Day in South Korea, is a national Korean commemorative day marking the invention and the proclamation of Hangul. Hangul is the name of the Korean alphabet, created in the 15th century by King Sejong the Great. Before then, Koreans used the Chinese alphabet and characters (called Hanja). This was difficult for commoners to master, and thus, Hangul was created for the purpose of literacy. Although Hangul is one of the youngest alphabets in the world, linguists love Korean. They describe it as the most perfect phonetic system devised, with an alphabet that fits the language like a glove.

Today would have been the 7th Annual #StrawberryStomp5K, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sister City Association of Garden Grove board members had to make the hard decision to cancel what would have been an amazingly sweet run/walk race. We hope all of you are continuing to stay happy and healthy during this unprecedented time. And, most importantly, we hope to see all of you back on Main Street for the 2021 Strawberry Stomp 5K!! Until then, keep on stomping!!

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and following the new guidelines put in place to protect the public, the Sister City Association of Garden Grove has decided to cancel this year’s Strawberry Stomp 5K. However, the Association is brainstorming an alternative solution and will announce whether the race will take place at a later date, and in another form, in the near future. Please stand by...
