Step Forward Foundation is a non-profit organization providing specialized legal services to low income communities in Santa Clara, San Benito, and Monterey Counties. We are a small close-knit group of social justice minded professionals serving primarily victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. We currently provide immigration, family law, and employment law representation. We are looking for another family law attorney to join our team! With us, ...you will primarily: - Represent low-income victims of domestic violence in family law matters, including but not limited to: divorce, child custody, restraining orders, and child/spousal support; - Participate in outreach activities to community including providing consultations at the Family Justice Center; - Assist with training and mentorship of paralegals, volunteers, and interns; and - Assist the Managing Attorney complete grant requests and reporting There may also be some daytime travel required to Hollister and Salinas, and surrounding areas, for client meetings and outreach activities. To be considered for this position, you: - Must be licensed in the State of California and eligible to practice in the state courts; - Have an interest in working with victims of crime; - Have strong case management, legal research, and legal writing skills; - Should demonstrate ability to take initiative and work well under pressure; and - Have at least one year of experience in family law - Preferably speak more than one language, but its not required As an employee, we offer: - Holidays and Paid Time Office - Health Insurance (100% premium for employee) - Malpractice insurance - Bar Dues - Professional development opportunities To apply, please submit your cover letter, resume, and references either through this application or by email.
