TU is working with farmers, landowners, youth education programs, resource agencies and other partners between San Francisco and Santa Barbara to restore flows and habitat for the South-Central Coastal Distinct Population Segment (DPS) of California steelhead. We recently completed a major barrier removal project on Pennington Creek, a tributary to Chorro Creek and Morro Bay near San Luis Obispo. Almost immediately, juvenile steelhead were observed occupying the reach in and upstream of the project area. The resilience of these fish, due to their remarkable life history diversity, is nothing short of amazing.
