Every month SPARK focuses on one of our GROWTH Thematic Units to help promote Leadership Development for our students. For the month of January, we focus on the O, Organization. We want our students to learn and practice to prioritize their tasks and organize themselves for academic success and preparation for the real world. This month we invited our students to discuss how organizing is part of responsible decision making. Join us in teaching your child(ren) about the importance of organization and how to implement in small ways daily. As they continue to practice you'll notice their independence and confidence continue to blossom.
Enrollment for our remote SPARK Virtual After School Program is always open at sparkacademy.jumbula.com. We have small group sessions or a 1 on 1 tutoring option. If you'd like to receive more information please call us at (626)600-2398 OR email us at [email protected]
An important lesson at SPARK that is taught daily to our students is to make a habit of gratitude. Having an attitude of gratitude makes us more aware of good things as they happen. Join us in doing a Gratitude Scavenger Hunt with your child(ren)! Tag us so we can see all the wonderful things and people our SPARK students are grateful for.
We really love our SPARK Staff Team and their dedication to our students and families. Here they are collaborating together to create a positive environment at our professional development training on classroom management. Our goal is to provide an environment in which students are encouraged to take academic and social risks for their GROWTH! This quote inspired us all to improve ourselves and provide the best atmosphere for our students' success. "I've come to a frightenin...g conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom. It's my personal approach that creates the climate. It's my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess a tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or dehumanized." - Haim G. The month of October is dedicated to SPARK’s monthly Thematic Unit: Relationship. As humans, one of the core things we look for in our lives is relationships. We want to feel like we belong, have people to count on and know that we matter to other people. It is so important that we teach our student's relationship skills so that they know what it means to have a healthy relationship amongst their peers. Conversations about being a good friend are great starters to increase a child’s wisdom on self-reflection, on one’s personal behaviors and how they can impact others. Without these discussions, students might not know what it means to be kind, honest, or helpful. We want students to learn the importance of self-love and understand the importance of communicating in a healthy, positive, and kind way towards others and themselves.
