The City of South Gate hosted a multi-agency training on Public Response to Homeless Encampment Issues this morning. State, county and public agencies came t...ogether to share their individual roles and develop procedures when dealing with the homeless and their property at homeless encampments. South Gate Police K9 Rudy is a Belgian Malinois. He was born on May 4th 2012, so he is just over 4 years old. He was trained and purchased in Holland. Rudy was trained in KNPV which stands for Koninklijke Nederlandse Politiehond Vereniging which is Dutch and stands for "Royal Dutch Police Dog Association" in Holland. During this "trial" which is a competition for dogs where they are scored on a points system, Rudy received "Met Lof" which translates "with Honors". This is the highest points range in which a KNPV trial dog can score. Rudy is an apprehension dog, however he will soon be cross trained. For fun Rudy enjoys playing with the family Yorkie named "Whiskey" and likes to sleep under the lemon tree in his backyard. He also enjoys going for runs with his K9 Handler Officer Adam Cook. #sgpdk9
