Mee Memorial Hospital Foundation SEEKS NEW BOARD MEMBERS to help ensure quality care in South County! KING CITY, Calif., Because rural residents including those in South Monterey County often encounter barriers to healthcare, hospital foundations have become integral in ensuring widespread access to quality care. Toward its efforts to grow and better support the hospital, the foundation is currently accepting applications for new board members. Community members interes...ted in applying should send an email (including a bio and resume) to Elsbeth Wetherill at [email protected]. Over the past 50 years, the foundation has raised millions of dollars for the betterment of the hospital, from fetal monitors and dialysis chairs to floor polishers. The foundation always has a need for volunteers, to oversee donations, manage endowments and organize capital campaigns. It also hosts special events and fundraising activities where assistance is needed. We were saddened to learn of the passing of Toshikiyo "Andy" Matsui, 85, who died peacefully in his sleep on December 11, 2020, at The Cottages of Carmel. The generosity of he and his wife Yasuko, and their commitment to supporting the educational aspirations of underserved students in the Salinas Valley will have an impact for years to come. We offer our deepest condolences to the Matsui family.

As most of you now know, Monterey County Health Department has announced, all residents in Monterey County must adhere to a strict STAY AT HOME order, and non essential businesses must close, effective December 13th at 10pm until January 11th, 2021 at 6pm. The Soledad Chamber is staying on top of the recent developments as they happen and we will be contacting all of our members first regarding any small business economic relief packages as they come available and then we w...ill be contacting all businesses that could potentially need our assistance and resources available. IT IS CRUCIAL to our area’s small businesses that WE ALL SHOP LOCAL FIRST, before heading to Salinas. Even ordering online, can bring tax revenue into our City - BUT, our small businesses NEED US RIGHT NOW. It doesn’t get any more serious than this. Some of our businesses may not survive unless we pull together. What can you do now? What a wonderful night of beautiful parade entries! As President/CEO of the Soledad-Mission Chamber of Commerce, and on behalf of our Board of Directors, we would like to thank Chamber Board of Director, Miss Pauline Tomasini for her continued coordination of this 35th year of Soledad Parade of Lights/Christmas Festivities. Pauline, who is now in her 80’s has been the lead Coordinator for this large community event for MANY YEARS! Her endless energy and enthusiasm for our S...outh County communities is beyond commendable and we love her tremendously for her hard work and dedication!
