We love seeing pictures of our students getting ready for the start of the school year with their temporary classrooms! Tag us so we can see and repost!
All teachers reported back to work today and worked hard to prepare for our students’ arrival. While we are starting the year, we will be ready to pivot to in-person learning the moment we are able! @ St Mary's School
We’re so close to our fundraising goal. Our students have showed great resiliency over the past 9 months and deserve some Kona Ice. Can you help them by donating? Please sign this petition below by completing this form to help Catholic schools across the nation: https://actnow.io/9vwQEyV Please share it out and ask others to do the same. Below is what you’ll be asking for:... The pandemic has seriously impacted public and private school children equally. But thousands of Catholic schools are now in danger of closing if Congress doesn’t act. If that happens, it will be a tragedy for children, families and communities. It will also be financially devastating to school districts who would have to absorb hundreds of thousands, if not more than million, private school students. This will cost taxpayers billions of dollars. I believe public and private school students must be given the resources for success. I am asking Congress to set aside 10 percent of any new COVID-19 education funding for emergency grants to low- and middle-income private school families. This percentage is consistent with the overall population of K-12 students educated in private schools. And with continued uncertainty ahead, Congress should pair these one-time emergency grants with a comprehensive federal tax credit that will generate new education funds for children long term. Congress must ensure the education of ALL children this fall.
Congrats to Mr. Medrano for completing his master’s program this spring! A lifelong learner, Mr. Medrano begins his Ed.D this summer. Before we know it, we’ll be calling him Dr. Medrano! #sdcatholic
Each Friday, our K-4 students worked on a Genius Hour project, researching a topic of their choosing. Check out this great video from one of our Kindergarten students on germs which seems particularly relevant these days! #sdcatholic
We also owe congratulations to Mr. Fishburne, who received the Teacher of the Year award for the entire Diocese of San Diego. We are so proud of him and lucky to have him. Learn why he received this award here: https://youtu.be/5SUsYt9I1ZI?t=810 #sdcatholic
Congratulations to Ms. Silady for 10 years of service at St. Mary School. She was recognized for her years with us last night at the Diocese of San Diego’s Catholic Educator Awards Presentation. We are lucky to have Ms. Silady who is not just an experienced teacher, but one who believes in pushing herself for continuous improvement. It is that self-reflection that makes her a great teacher coach, helping others to reflect on their process as well, benefiting the entire school and the other schools we work with. She loves our school and our rich traditions, and because of her and her experience, we’ve been able to continue on with the many things that make our school so great. Thank you, Ms. Silady for your commitment to our school. We appreciate all that you do! #sdcatholic
