Temperatures are expected to fall to lower than coldest temperatures observed, thus far, this season both Thursday morning and Friday morning. This means that a... hard freeze is expected across most of the east side, while some west side valleys will also experience their first freeze of this fall season. Other west side valleys will see their first killing frost of the season. Please note that the above values are for Thursday morning. Take precautions by harvesting, covering, or bringing in tender vegetation. Also take precautions to prevent freeze damage to irrigation systems in areas where freezing conditions are likely.

Solo fatal crash near Beaver Creek On October 6, 2020, at 0950 hours, the California Highway Patrol (CHP - Yreka ) Yreka Communications Center received a 911 te...lephone call from an individual who believed he had spotted a white colored vehicle down an embankment in rural Siskiyou County, north of State Route 96. The exact location was unclear so Cal Fire, Forest Service, and CHP personnel responded to the approximate location to search for the vehicle. A CHP Northern Division air unit (Helicopter 14) also responded to assist. At approximately 1100 hours, Cal Fire personnel located the vehicle down an embankment from Forest Service Road 47N44 just above Beaver Creek Road. Fire personnel traversed down the hillside but discovered the solo driver was deceased, having sustained blunt force trauma. While at the scene, CHP personnel discovered the driver was not wearing a seatbelt which may have prevented the severity of injury. The exact time of the collision is unknown but believed to have occurred sometime the night prior. The CHP would like to remind all occupants of motor vehicles to wear a seatbelt as designed and required by law. The decision to do so may save your life in the event of a collision.
