Schreder Planetarium

Good news (and a little bad). We will be offering Friday evening shows starting July 23rd with a capacity of 65. Masks are only required for those not vaccinated. See "Events" for shows every two weeks through October 1st. The bad(ish) news is that we will not be replacing the carpet and seats until December. At that time we will be closed for the shortest possible length of time.

COVID changes have arrived. We are now registering 65 people for each upcoming evening program instead of just 16. Physical distancing and masks will not be required (the State only requires masks for unvaccinated people). We will open the exhibits immediately and the gift shop once the Friends of Schreder Planetarium is ready to do so. We will post when this is approved. We are hopeful to have it open on Friday. There are three upcoming programs listed under Events that have expanded seating and 49 new seats open. We will be closed in July and possibly August for seat and carpet installation.

Lots of folks have questions about the effect of the governor's announcement yesterday on our shows, number of seats, masks, etc. We have been waiting the final official announcement and now we must wait for the OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines. Then the Shasta County Office of Education will consult with Shasta County Public Health and a decision will be made regarding the planetarium. While we are hopeful for positive changes and like you, we ...want them soon, we need to go through this process to ensure the safety of our visitors. When changes occur, this is the place to learn about them. In the meantime, all our upcoming shows are sold out at 16 seats 9techinically, at the time of this posting, there is 1 seat left for the 28th). July will be a month of seat and carpet replacement and we will reopen once that is complete. If this seems like less than ideal timing, it is because the funds needed for this work are not available until July 1st. Thanks for supporting Schreder Planetarium.

The evening program on the 14th only has two seats left at the time of this post (2:54pm, May 30th). However, several seats are available on the 16th, 21st, and 28th.

The four new evening programs are all still available. 7:00-8:30, mostly on Mondays in June, all featuring terrific shows with the fabulous new projector. Typically the tickets go unsold for a bit and then the social media rush hits and they all sell out. Beat the rush!
