This weekend, Oakley the Pawramedic was dispatched to our center to triage our team. While he may not have had lights and sirens, we imagine that he "woo-woo'd" all the way from Ventura County. After an especially difficult week, he determined that snuggles, hands through soft puppy fur and overall fluffy cuteness were in order. Oakley is a 2 year old goldendoodle and certified therapy dog with Global Medical Response. He gets deployed to a variety of crisis situations, and the smiles that he brought prove that he's excellent at his job. Oakley, thank you for affixing a bandaid on our hearts. You are the goodest boy. GMR Therapy Dog Team

The Public Health Department is recommending that members of the public wear reusable, non-medical cloth face coverings when going out for essential activities. *Face masks do not replace social distancing!* They are an added measure of protection during social outings. Evidence shows that our best defense against COVID-19 is the current interventions in place:... Staying at Home Physical Distancing #ShelterinPlace and if you must go out for essential outings, maintain six feet distance from people, cover your face, and wash your hands regularly. 'Twas 3 weeks before Christmas, and down every aisle Were wide-eyed eager children, and each with a smile. With gift cards in hand, ... for their presents they shopped, For family and friends with the help of a cop. There were many reasons as to why they were there, But first-hand now they saw that cops really do care. To help when you need, to protect and to serve, But now to fill carts with gifts for those who truly deserve. Friends were made, fun was had, on this day full of cheer; Thank you, Shop with a Cop, and we can't wait for next year! #swach&h2019 #swacsv #shopwithacop #santaclaracounty

Yesterday a little after 4am, Dispatcher II Priscilla received a call that granted her membership into an elite club... the Stork Club! Over the phone, she assisted a woman who was by herself in delivering her own baby. While we're used to hanging up the phone and our jobs being done, as a mom herself Priscilla wanted to follow-up and make sure mom and baby were doing well. We were invited to the hospital to meet them where we were greeted with our own little surprise... she ...had ended up having twins! One of the most heart-warming parts of this story is that our dispatchers quickly came together with donations when they heard about the call and we were able to deliver a stroller along with a multitude of baby items for the little ones. We're certainly proud of mom, her baby girls, Priscilla and our incredible team. #storkclub #identicaltwins #iam911

We are proud to recognize Dispatcher II Priscilla for her outstanding performance during a difficult call. As I'm sure you can imagine, trying to coach someone over the phone through an emergency isn't the most simple task, but Priscilla remained firm in her resolve while empathetic, conveying the urgency of action to the caller. The amount of care she puts into her work is admirable and a great example to us all. Congrats, Priscilla, on a job well done!

#PSPS: During a power outage, do not open your refrigerator or freezer door unless it is necessary. Refrigerators can keep food cold for up to 4 hours and a ful...l freezer will keep its temperature for about 48 hours, if their doors remain closed. Consider using coolers with ice to keep food cold and safe. Use a thermometer in the refrigerator and freezer so that you can know the temperature when the power is restored. It is not to be used in situations where it is not an emergency and/or you could otherwise speak to a dispatcher.
