Repost from @thekingcenter I am praying for the Floyd family. And I know that this sentence, no matter the length, does not ease the family’s pain. #GeorgeFloyd #ReimaginePublicSafety #SaveLives #FierceUrgencyOfNow

Happy Juneteenth weekend! For generations, we’ve celebrated Juneteenth with family gatherings, cookouts, domino and card-playing, music, laughter, and an overa...ll feeling of Black freedom and joy. Juneteenth celebrates our Blackness by honoring our Ancestors, affirming ourselves and our people, creating space for Black joy, and struggling unceasingly for freedom and justice. See more

The SC Beloved Community Bookclub is taking f a break for Summer but will be back and discussing this book in August. No time to begin it than during Gay Pride month. Our Gay History in 50 States is an educational book that tells the story of queer American history, state by state. The stories that make up this book celebrate significant people, places, and events, and highlight struggles, successes, and contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community, creating a history to be... passed on to future generations. Have a great summer and remember to BE LOVE #pridemonth #gayhistory #inclusion #belove #belovedcommunity #bookclub

This is a bold statement After 18 years of recognizing the Academic Achievements of Students in Preschool to College S.C.O.A.C.H.E. is the only Community Group... in the United States which celebrates in that way and includes all ethnicities. As an example We will be recognizing the Academic Achievements of a Mom receiving her Masters and her daughter graduating to 1st Grade and a family of 4 Graduates. We celebrate in a non traditional way. I also make this statement to see if there are any like minded Communities out there. Please let me know if you as a community group recognize all Students to have Academic Achievements and celebrate in such way. Education Attainment is a journeyrather than a destination keep going.

Congratulations!! Educational Attainment is a journey... rather than a destination. She was recognized for her Academic Achievements. These last 4 years were ...a part of her educational journey. Tonight I had the pleasure of standing between two Giants of Support. On the left, the current Redding Enterprise High Parent of the year, on the right a former Enterprise High Parent of the year. Congratulations Parents! These two Giants exemplify the expression Got it from their Mama! YaHeardme?!

50 years ago today one of the greatest pieces of music history was released by the Prince of Motown: Marvin Gaye. His soul-clenching eleventh studio album ‘What...’s Going On’ changed national conversation during its time, and now five decades later, the themes of the album still reflect some of the most significant challenges and divisions we face as a society. Today, we celebrate the mark made in music with the release of a new lyric video commemorating the timeless track. This 40 min. video is the result of the Shasta County community members coming together and finding a way to still celebrate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during a pandemic. It aired almost 6 months ago, and I thought it should air again. https://youtu.be/BtYsJ7XC4PI

Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Six Principles of Nonviolence are: Principle one: Nonviolence is a way of life for courageous people. It is active nonviolent resistance to evil. It is aggressive spiritually, mentally and emotionally.... Principle two: Nonviolence seeks to win friendship and understanding. The result of nonviolence is redemption and reconciliation. The purpose of nonviolence is the creation of the Beloved Community. Principle three: Nonviolence seeks to defeat injustice, not people. Nonviolence recognises that evildoers are also victims and are not evil people. The nonviolent resister seeks to defeat evil, not people. Principle four: Nonviolence holds that suffering can educate and transform. Nonviolence accepts suffering without retaliation. Unearned suffering is redemptive and has tremendous educational and transforming possibilities. Principle five: Nonviolence chooses love instead of hate. Nonviolence resists violence of the spirit as well as the body. Nonviolent love is spontaneous, unmotivated, unselfish and creative. Principle six: Nonviolence believes that the universe is on the side of justice. The nonviolent resister has deep faith that justice will eventually win. Nonviolence believes that God is a God of justice.
