Some interesting data pulled from the fresh policy brief on OD trends in California. Would love to hear some thoughts on this trend: prescriptions for opioids decrease as opioid-related overdose skyrockets. We have some gut feelings on this, what are yours? What options are out there that could help prevent more unnecessary death?

We got a pretty great donation of patent platforms in sizes all the way up to 14! If you see some people in LA sporting these heels, you’ll know where they got em!

Dear CHPLA Supporters, As many of you know, 2019 brought hardship, challenges, and changes to Los Angeles Community Health Project unlike any year before. Throughout 2020, that trend prevailed as our programming continued to expand. As this unprecedented year comes to a close, we would like to share with you a few of our many accomplishments, achieved against the odds. We entered 2020 with the tremendous tasks of managing without Michael Marquesen, our director and friend, wh...Continue reading

It is time for our yearly tent drive!!! Please help people living outside across LA stay a little warmer and a little safer. This is our participant’s favorite giveaway of the year. We always run out of supplies quickly, so please help by clicking the link below and have tents shipped to our office at 1151 N. Western Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90029. We very much appreciate every single one we receive and, of course, your continued support. https://www.amazon.com/2-Person-Wakeman-O//ref=mp_s_a_1_4

Our work is essential to the communities we serve. We don’t stay home when the stay-at-home orders come out. We are operating as safely as we can to avoid any possible transmission of the virus. It’s been a difficult year to navigate for outreach workers, but we are still doing the damn thing. Big respect to all the people out on the front lines helping others during this pandemic.

Many of you have been long time supporters and friends of Los Angeles Community Health Project and have likely noticed very little sharing from us over the last year. After we lost Michael, we turned our energies and efforts inward to ensure, as an agency, we remained stable and continued to grow in the ways we had planned and envisioned while he was with us. Many people reached out and offered financial and emotional support and for that we are truly thankful. It was a diffi...cult year, and, in many ways, we felt lost without Michael as our leading force. The entire staff pulled together in an incredible way through the waves of difficulties we encountered and continued to fully serve the people we care so much about across our local communities. We made an early and dedicated decision to stay as true as we knew how, to the values CHPLA has held from its most early days of operation. With the help of new staff and directors, Melisa Chavez and Shannon Knox, we have finally found our footing and feel ready to join the outside harm reduction world again. As this year closes, we will release a progress report on all the activities and important work we have been able to accomplish in 2020. For now, we want to thank everyone for the continued care, interest, and support and for those who gave us your wisdom and expertise as we figured out how to thrive under such difficult and unexpected conditions. We are looking forward to sharing much more with all of you in the coming year and we are wishing everyone a blessed and healthy season. Please be careful with yourselves and hopefully soon enough we will all make it to brighter days.

Another harm reduction day in covid19 response LA. 13,200 doses of narcan arrived today to help some of the huge numbers of people in encampments, leaving jail and all the folks moving into the new housing sites. Also a shot of our masked harm reduction team in the field. Thank you for the masks, Mike!

Thank you so much for making us such amazing masks, Vicki Karlan! Thank you to our wonderful staff, all people out there working for all of us and everyone staying home. Sending love to the generous people all around who have helped us create these care packages with food and supplies for our unhoused participants. We could not do this without you.

Excited about our new mobile Overdose Prevention vans! These vans will serve as Naloxone Access Points (NAPs) to provide training, referrals and easy access to Narcan around Los Angeles County.
