Our member, Susan, shared a course to create your own giving plan in the Susanville private Facebook group.
Susan, one of our club members we haven’t seen much of since the recent wild fires shared this post reflecting on the emotional toll of sheltering. For many, our Toastmasters zoom meetings are a lifeline providing a much needed opportunity for meaningful connection with individuals outside their home. Susan offered to host our first virtual Zoom meet when we first began to shelter-in-place. We’d hoped it would only be for a few months then. We were in the middle of our contest season and grieving the loss of an audience. Boy, haven’t we come a long way as a club?
Santa Cruz Orators is now embarking on a new path. Pathways is a modernized learning experience developed by Toastmasters, suited to our changing global society. It offers you more benefits and more opportunities to learn, grow and meet personal and professional goals. You now have the opportunity to develop additional skills you can use not just in your club, but at your job or in your community as well. Come join us on Monday's 12:15-1:15 at the Tannery!
Happy Spring, Toastmasters! One of our members, Megan Montero will be holding an online workshop this Wednesday! Let her jump start your "Spring Cleaning" :-)
Here are the details for Megan Montero's upcoming talk! Please share with friends and family!
Our new cover photo was taken by our very own Terry Rein!
Hooray for Toastmasters! Today we listened to two wonderful speeches about moving slowly (and loving it) and facing our fears (and the beauty that comes from it). And, of course, we laughed :-)
Wishing Henry Miller a successful evening tonight as he competes in the Division C International Speech Contest in Redwood City. Bring it home, Henry!
Megan Montero gave an animated and persuasive pitch today while delivering her "Persuade with Power" speech from the Competent Communicator Manual, titled "Weather Worker Fundraiser". She was so persuasive, most of the club either bought raffle tickets or her lovely Gratitude Greeting Cards she has made to help support her annual pilgrimage to the highlands of central Mexico to continue her training as a Weather Worker. Great job Megan.
Congratulations to Ann Ostermann on delivering her "Icebreaker" speech today. It was warmly delivered and entertaining. We were happy you got to give your first official speech in the Arts Council Santa Cruz County Conference room. Welcome to Santa Cruz Orators!
We're having an Open House at the Arts Council Santa Cruz County, at Tannery. Come see how much we get done in 1 hour! Improve your public speaking abilities in a friendly, helpful environment.
A big congratulations to Santa Cruz Orator's member Henry Miller on winning the 2nd place trophy in the District 4 International Speech Contest. His speech "What is Love?" was powerful and heartfelt!
Lot's of fun at today's meeting!
