Also, just released today (12/5/19) - a completely updated version of the Thomas Fire Debris Flow risk areas. For more information, the public is invited to attend a community informational meeting, today, Thursday, Dec 5th at 5:30pm at Montecito Union School, 385 San Ysidro Road. This meeting will also be streamed live at: https://www.youtube.com/user/CSBTV20 According to the Santa Barbara Independent (published 12/5/19): "the new map dramatically reduces the number of pre...viously identified 'red zone' parcels along and below waterways - from 1472 down to 517. .... The reduction is maintly thanks to a healthy 80 percent regrowth of vegetation in the mountains above Montecito that were scorcned during the Thomas Fire, 6 new ring nets, a lower volume of movable soil and rock, and fully cleared debris basins have also mitigated the threat. 'The risk is significantly less from recent years,' said Montecito Fire Chief Kevin Taylor." https://sbcoem.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html

A new, more detailed and refined maps shows properties which are assessed to be "at risk" for potential flooding or debris flows, following the recent (and still burning) Cave Fire. Click all the way through, on all of the links, and you can type your address to see if your property is in any of the risk zones. Read the "key" to understand what the different colors mean.
