Please find below clarification from Principal DeBora regarding SEMS school closure: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello SEMS Community,... SEMS will remain closed tomorrow, Friday, December 4th. That does not mean school is cancelled. While we understand if specific families are having difficulties connecting, our teachers will continue to work hard to provide asynchronous lessons for students to complete over the weekend, and be ready to go on Monday. Some teachers provided those lessons today as a two-day assignment, while others will post tomorrow. Anything missed will be reviewed by our teachers on Monday. We appreciate how teachers and students used creative means to connect today, using hotspots from phones, the Google Classroom phone app and other methods, and we will be empathetic during this changing situation. Our expectation remains that studnets will check into their class periods if possible, unless their teacher has communicated with them. If teachers are able to connect, class check-ins with focus more on well-being, and teachers can answer questions from students. If teachers cannot connect, they will email their classes. On a personal note, I hope all families are safe. I continue to be inspired by the dedication of our teachers, the compassion from our entire staff, and our flexibility to handle anything this year has presented us with. We have become more tech-savvy, empathetic, and will continue to progress with our learning through this last month of 2020 and into 2021. I remain hopeful that we will all be back on campus when it is safe, and let’s all remain positive in the face of adversity. Happy Holidays and have a good weekend.

Good Morning SEMS Staff & Students, Due to the National Weather Service's "red flag warnings", San Diego Gas & Electric has turned off power in many areas impacting our students and staff's ability to fully engage in remote learning. In some areas SDG&E has indicated power won't be restored until Friday evening. Attendance will not be taken today, Thursday, Dec. 3rd. Instead, if your student does have power encourage them to continue checking their email and Google Classro...oms often for updates from their teachers and working on assignments independently. We will have an update later this afternoon regarding Friday. Thank you, SEMS Administration

Plase find below an important message from Principal DeBora regarding power outages and school calendar changes: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello SEMS Community,... We hope you enjoyed the Thanksgiving break, and your family is healthy. SEMS is aware of the possible power outages that could start as early as today. A portion of our community experienced an unplanned outage yesterday, and we will continue to monitor the situation this week. If your student cannot get into their classes due to the power outage, please email our attendance office at: [email protected]. Also, there has been a change to the student calendar. Friday, December 18th was a non-student day due to the end of the semester. Now that the semester has changed, December 18th is a regular day of school for all students. Friday, January 22, 2021 is now the non-student day for the end of the semester. Thank you and stay safe.
