The City of Salinas is pleased to announce Joni L. Janecki & Associates (JLJA) as a new addition to the Main Street Streetscape Project, as part of the Downtown Vibrancy Plan. JLJA has been hired to assist with the landscaping and public amenity design of Main Street to ensure community input is incorporated as well as industry best practices. JLJA brings over twenty-five years of experience completing projects, large and small, throughout the region. JLJA recently completed ...the Placemaking Project in Morgan Hill creating a cohesive, exciting design to attract tourists while enhancing the community for its residents. JLJA has an exceptional record of working with communities and stakeholder groups to reach consensus and will put that ability into practice in this project. The Main Street Project community meeting was held earlier this week. According to Andrew Easterling, the traffic Engineer for the City of Salinas, "The biggest changes (on Main Street) will make it a more walkable community. Salinas Downtown Vibrancy Plan 08.09.2020

The Main Street Master Plan will be presented at the City Council meeting tomorrow, October 24th at 4pm. As part one of the first steps in implementing the Vibrancy Plan, Council will discuss allocating $1.1mil in Measure X funds towards design, administration and engineering support. Survey work performed this month marks the beginning of the design process for Main Street Streetscape project, a project that implements a part of our Downtown Vibrancy Plan. The City conducted several community meetings in 2016 to receive input for the Main Street Master Plan, which provides guidance for the design of the project. Below is a conceptual rendition of desired improvements to Main Street. Regular updates for the project will be provided. Stay tuned!

As City Surveyors prepare for the design of the Downtown Streetscape Project, limited parking restrictions will be in effect on each block of Main Street from Monday August 7th through Thursday August 10th. But not to worry! There will be plenty of parking available in surrounding public lots and the parking garage. See attached for dates/times of street survey work.
