SAGE COUNSELING SERVICES, INC. PROUDLY OFFERING PARENTING JOURNEY. SESSIONS START OCTOBER 21, 2013 AT 8:00PM - DINNER WILL BE SERVED! Building Resilience & Inner Strength in Parents The Parenting Journey engages parents in a dynamic, effective partnership with other parents and family service professionals. The program helps parents discover the inner strengths and life skills they already possess, which supports better parenting and transforms families. The Parenting Journ...ey is a 12-session group curriculum designed for parents who want to learn more about themselves, their relationships, and the resources they need to effectively parent their children. Ultimately, the Parenting Journey is an opportunity for parents and other caregivers to learn and practice decision-making skills that result in responsible and informed choices in raising their children. While traditional parenting programs are often created to teach parents about child development and disciplinary techniques, the Parenting Journey utilizes experiential techniques to focus on the parents’ relationship with their children, with others, and with their own personal histories. What makes the Parenting Journey unique is its emphasis on helping parents explore the deep personal roots of their parenting practices, and find their own personal and parenting strengths; also distinctive is the understanding that even those who may have neglected or mistreated their children want to be good parents, and have the capacity to do so with guidance and support. Who Benefits from the Parenting Journey? All parents can benefit, including: Parents seeking community and support Parents responding to protective services and/or court mandates Parents in recovery Parents with mental health issues Parents who have experienced violence or childhood trauma Parents of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds Parents in preventative programs Parents raised in foster care Grandparents raising grandchildren See more
