How We Do It With our old-time radio adaptations of An Inch and a Half of Glory and The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax running this month, many of you may be wondering how we go from page to stage. Of course, great source material, such as a great adventure like Mrs.Pollifax, is necessary. Then finding the core elements of the story, like Earl's downward spiral in Inch and a Half, and bring that to the foreground of your script. Finally, a fantastic and dedicated cast, like the ones you only find at LBSC brings it all to life. Stream these thrilling stories, masterfully told, today! $25 household tickets @ LBShakespeare.org Photo by Taylor Leach

Adventure All April! Looking for a little excitement? LBSC's April programming is filled with all the suspense that made old-time radio great. In The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax, we follow the retired school teacher on a globe-trotting adventure filled with spies, boat chases, and explosions. Also, in a radio double-feature, Gunsmoke and An Inch and a Half of Glory light up the KBRD airwaves. This special episode of Gunsmoke (just in time for Shakespeare's birthday)... finds a classical actor in over his head and it's up to Marshall Dillon to sort out fact from fiction. Then, in An Inch and a Half of Glory, Earl becomes an uneasy hero when he brings a kid down from a smokey apartment, but the danger reaches new heights when an overly-confident Earl rushes into an inferno. These filmed performances of radio plays bring to life all that is great in storytelling, so tune in now! $25 household ticket @ LBShakespeare.org See more

Halloween Isn't Over Yet! While Halloween maybe officially passed, the dried leaves and warm breezes are keeping Autumn vibes in full swing. So if you're not quite ready to toss that jack-o'-lantern just yet, you're not alone. Keep the thrills going as Long Beach Shakespeare company continues to stream our Halloween Horror radio plays. Anita Harris at the Signal Tribune calls our production of War of the Worlds "sharp and compelling". And for many, the cooling weather invites... a good book, so let our Edgar Allan Poe series scratch that itch. Ms. Harris writes, "hearing Poe’s works read aloud by these skilled actors brings them to life in a way reading silently does not". These productions won't be around for much longer so be sure to bring these classics into your home today! $25 per household tickets available to purchase and view until Nov 16, 2020. Get them on our website. See more

WE NEED YOUR HELP! We raised $1,125 so far! We still have a long way to go. We have an exciting season for 2021 which includes fully stage productions of Romeo and Juliet, The Importance of Being Ernest, A Midsummer Night's Dream, a special holiday stage Christmas Classics with Puppets featuring favorite stories: The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Origin of the Poinsettia, The Happy Prince, and T’was the Night Before Christmas. We will also have our radio productions filmed.... 2021 brings classics like The Swiss Family Robinson, Frankenstein, The Invisible Man and the radio shows that we did not get to perform in 2020 Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax, Dashiell Hammet’s An Inch and a Half of Glory, and The Odyssey. Our wonderful 2021 season is in danger. Without having live performances due to Covid-19, we will need $20,000 in donations to see us through 2021. Once we can re-open, the limited capacity will impact us greatly. We plan to continue the streaming of our programs until we are back to full capacity. Aside from your generous donations, ticket sales keep the doors open at The Helen Borgers Theatre, so we are looking to you to help us fill the gap. All donations over $50 are listed on our donor page in the digital programs. Please make your tax-deductible donation: On our website under Patron Donor Levels or Donate via check: Make out your check to The Long Beach Shakespeare Company. Mail it to: 4250 1/2 Atlantic Avenue Long Beach, CA 90807 See more
