Winter Break - Happy Holidays... 12/24-1/14 Students return on Tuesday, January 15th, 2013
National Center for Safe Routes to School The purpose of the federal Safe Routes to School Program is to get more children to walk and bicycle to school. It is an international movement that aims to make everyday walk to school day. More children walking means they are more physically active and there are environment benefits as well because of the reduced traffic congestion. Safe Routes to Schools works by organizing Task Forces at each school, which organize events and contests, and assist with promotion and facilitation of walking to school. Local Task Forces within a city work together with law enforcement and city officials to map the routes to schools and make the routes physically safer. The program also includes education for pedestrian safety skills.
Rohr School has not made Adequate Yearly Progress toward meeting grade-level standards for every target group for two school years, 2010-2011 and 2011-2012. As a result, a new federal law, No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, requires that Rohr School be identified as a Program Improvement School, Year II by the California Department of Education.

Rohr Elementary Library - Each class has regular weekly library time during which each child may check out one or two books. Please help your child keep track of his/her library books and be sure they are returned on time. Final billings of lost/damaged books are sent home. Students who have overdue books will not be allowed to check out additional books from the school library until the late ones are returned.... If a student loses or damages a book, he/she must pay for the items in accordance with Education Code of the State of California. The average cost of a library book is approximately $20.00.
