These photos were from our trip to Sturgis in 2006 to meet up with Deacon and Kay for Deacon's indoctrination into the Sturgis Hall of Fame.

We lost a true friend yesterday. Not only was he a friend to Pat and me, but a friend to anyone who has every ridding a motorcycle. Deacon Phillips will be sorely missed.

Hi All! We have had many requests for referrals to another site. WE can't not speak highly enough of Sierra College. You will find many of our instructors from McClellan at Sierra. Check out their site - you will be happy that you did! https://sierra.augusoft.net/index.cfm

Another motorcycle accident today because someone was texting on their phone and didn't see him.... There is a new app aimed toward assisting the PD in stopping cell phone use while driving! Its a free app. Once downloaded it lets you film the person using the hand-held device, also getting the car license in the video. You submit it and if accepted, you get paid! The person using the hand held device while driving gets fined. Cool, eh? Its called "Text to Ticket" and is meant to be used by other passengers or pedestrians. If the word gets out, I think a lot of the problem will clear itself up. Drivers can no longer be assured that just because they don't see a cop that they won't get the ticket...

Hi All! As you know, our McClellan site is closed. We have several small motorcycles for sale including a Yamaha TW200 dual sport (excellent condition), two Honda Rebel 250s, and a Sizuki GZ250. These bikes are in very good to excellent condition (we had a 5 star reputation for taking care of our bikes). If you are interested, drop me a line: [email protected]. We also have a couple of older bikes for sale for a very reasonable price. If interested, let me know. Thank you!!

It is about time that drivers know that lane splitting is legal! Now, if every rider that kane splits, learns to practice this skill in a safe manner, motorcyclists should be a little safer on the road. Lane Splitting is Legal in California CHP issues official guidelines - lane splitting is legal in California.... LANESPLITTINGISLEGAL.COM On August 19th, 2016, the California Legislature passed AB 51, which formally defines lane splitting in the vehicle code, and explicitly authorizes the CHP develop educational guidelines relating to lane splitting in a manner that would ensure the safety of the motorcyclist and the drivers and passengers of the surrounding vehicles. From the previous CHP Guidelines: Lane splitting by motorcycles is not illegal in California when done in a safe and prudent manner. Motorists should not take it upon themselves to discourage motorcyclists from lane splitting. Intentionally blocking or impeding a motorcyclist in a way that could cause harm to the rider is illegal (CVC 22400). Opening a vehicle door to impede a motorcycle is illegal (CVC 22517). Never drive while distracted. You can help keep motorcyclists and all road users safe by: Checking mirrors and blind spots, especially before changing lanes or turning Signaling your intentions before changing lanes or merging with traffic. Allowing more following distance, three or four seconds, when behind a motorcycle so the motorcyclist has enough time to maneuver or stop in an emergency. For more information, check out our lane splitting resources & links page and the latest lane splitting news.

PEACE OUT! After many years of training (over 15,000 students!) in the Sacramento area, Pat and I have decided to retire from the motorcycle training industry except for the occasional Motorcycle Safety Foundation program. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time as coaches/instructors and want to thank so many of you who have made our teaching careers so gratifying. We will truly miss this chapter in our lives, but changes in administration over the last year have left us looki...ng for other ways to promote motorcycle safety. We hope to see you on the road as we continue our journey to look for varied ways to foster motorcycle safety and awareness. New RideWell owners will be surfacing soon; new management, but the same excellent customer service that has been such an integral part of the RideWell experience. Please welcome them as they re-open RideWell UNDER ANOTHER NAME in the near future. Watch for news on the ridewellmt.com website.
