2019 Touch a Truck Event Saturday at Raley Field was quite the event. What a great Experience for the kids. Here are some early pictures setting up--we had our 1925 Fageol in the show and it was right next to a VSS Macropaver! https://www.jlsac.org/events/touch-a-truck/

In October 1971 I flew from Spokane on Veteran’s Weekend to California and picked up a new Monte Carlo with bench seats and drove back to College. I loved that car and over the course of my 5 years getting my Bachelor’s and Master’s it served me well. Gas back then was $0.28 a gallon and I’d get 16-17mpg. We’d pile 3 in the back and 3 in the front to make the trip to California in 12+ hours a couple of times a year. Al Ray was my co-pilot and driver and it was a wonder we sur...vived. Maggie Murray made the trip a number of times along with Bob Spitzer, long before he was thinking of becoming a Jesuit and future President of Gonzaga University. On Thursdays in the Winter I’d fill it with young co-ed’s in the afternoon and head to Mt. Spokane for afternoon and night skiing charging a dollar a seat. That $5 was enough money to cover my gas costs for the rest of the week. In the summer of 1976 I reluctantly sold it. I had been given a work car in my new career, a Vega without power steering that drove like a tank, and didn’t need two cars. I have missed that car and all it’s memories all of my life. I have search in vain to find it to no avail. Last week we found a nearly identical Monte Carlo, a one owner barn find, in Angels Camp and negotiated its purchase and addition to our Carseum. It will need new tires and probably belts and hoses but everything is original and in pretty great shape. Al, can’t wait to go cruising again together. See more
