Firefighters on the #RedSalmonComplex continue to patrol and improve containment lines as needed. Suppression repair activities are ongoing to stabilize firelines ahead of future precipitation events. Yesterday, fire behavior increased on the Klamath Zone in the upper Plummer Creek drainage and on the east slope of Mary Blaine Mountain. Aircraft will be utilized to cool the fire’s edge today as visibility conditions permit. An inversion developed last night, with light wind...s and very low humidity over the upper slopes and ridges. The inversion is forecast to break this afternoon with relative humidity forecast to dip into the single digits and light south winds becoming up-drainage this afternoon. A weak cold front and associated marine push Friday into Saturday will bring higher relative humidity and lower temperatures. The #RedSalmonComplex transitioned command this morning to three smaller incident command teams; each assigned to their respective National Forests (Klamath, Shasta-Trinity and Six Rivers) and the Hoopa Valley. Fire behavior increased today in the upper Plummer Creek drainage, on the Klamath Zone of the fire. Due to smoke, aircraft in the area was unable to ...verify the exact location of the increased activity. In addition to day shift, a night shift will continue to be staffed on the Klamath Zone to monitor the fire activity. Fire crews on the Klamath and Shasta-Trinity Zones of the Red Salmon Complex remain engaged in monitoring and improving containment lines as needed. Suppression repair activities are ongoing to stabilize firelines ahead of future precipitation events. The fire is contained on the Six Rivers’ and Hoopa Valley portions of the fire.
