August 24 Update Mother Nature was kind to Vacaville last night. The thunderstorms were lighter than expected and the Red Flag Warning that was supposed to be i...n place until 11 pm tonight is being canceled at 11 am. Our city is still blanketed with smoke but there are NO new fires reported in or around the City. We still have one of our engines and two chief officers assigned to a Solano County Task Force that will be in place until 8 pm tonight. Otherwise, the Vacaville Fire Department has returned to normal staffing. The support from the community for our first responders has been absolutely amazing! It’s the reason all of us love serving our community. We cannot THANK YOU enough! Businesses and residents have stepped up and kept our first responders fed and supplied through the incident. As the incident is winding down, all our needs are met. If you feel you want to help or donate, please consider helping our neighbors that have been affected by the fire. There are some unsung heroes that need to be acknowledged - our Code Enforcement and Fire Prevention folks. Each year, they work tirelessly to make sure the defensible space between the open space and the houses are well maintained. They are diligent in making sure weeds are cleared. These efforts - which happened WAY before the fire came - undoubtedly saved countless homes in the City. Thank you to our people that work behind the scenes for their efforts in saving Vacaville from fire damage.
