VSS International recently completed this massive pavement preservation project for the Idaho Department of Transportation near Pocatello, Idaho. This project consisted of approximately 1.5 million square yards of micro surfacing and 600,000 square yards of chip seal on Interstates 15 & 86 and US Routes 30 & 91. Upon completion of the surface treatments, VSS installed over 2.2 million linear feet of pavement markings. VSS International recently contracted with the City of Sacramento to install these award winning Bike Protection lanes on Franklin Boulevard in south Sacramento. The contract required VSS International to construct asphalt repairs, crack filling, striping removal & replacement prior to the final step of preserving the pavement with a micro surfacing application. The new layout provides bicyclists in the region added protection from the adjacent traffic lanes. The project has been recognized as the region’s Transportation Project of the Year by the Sacramento Regional Chapter of the American Public Works Association. Earlier today we said Thank You and gave special recognition to VSS Safety Manager, Roman. Earlier this week, Roman went above and beyond the normal call of duty to prevent what could have been a devastating accident on one of our job sites. While on the job Roman observed a third party vehicle coming down the road on fire at a high rate of speed. He jumped in his truck and followed the the burning vehicle down the road. While doing so, he was on his speaker telling ever...yone to get out of the way. Once the inflamed vehicle crashed and went off the road he proceeded to extinguish the fire. Had Roman not been there or acted as quickly as he did, members of our team and the traveling public people may have been hit by this truck, and the vehicle may have continued to burn with the driver trapped inside. Thank you Roman for all you do to keep our team safe!

All emulsion materials used on the project were manufactured and transported by VSS Emultech’s Bakersfield plant and black aggregate materials were supplied by George Reed’s Table Mountain facility.
