11.17.19 would have been my mom's, Cora Lee Campbell Mark Phillips', 91st birthday. One of the memories my step-dad, Lyle Phillips, reminded me of was that wh...en my mother was 15 she lied about her age and convinced the manager of the very first Golden Arches McDonald's restaurant in San Bernardino California to hire her. At that time the girls roller skated to deliver the burgers and shakes. Here are photos of Cora Phillips and her young family. Notice the matching dresses and hairstyles that she and I had. She sewed all my clothes!

This is a good friend of the family Larry Hayes’ grandparents and father. Not sure what year.

70 years ago today, December 12, 1948, Maurice and Richard McDonald opened their hamburger stand at 13th and E Street in San Bernardino...and began selling burg...ers for 15 cents ("buy them by the bagful" as the ads promoted). Ray Kroc was one of the brothers vendors who eventually saw the opportunity and bought the brothers out. The photos show some of the beginnings; Maurice and Dick in front of an almost empty pad; the original "golden arches "; the Mayor and me with Albert Okura, who now owns the museum at the site, and is also the owner of "Juan Pollo " restaurants; me and the 70th anniversary cake; an interior shot of part of the McDonald's museum; etc. See more
Found these pictures hanging on the wall of the McDonald’s Classic in Upland. That McDonald’s is made to look like the first franchise in Illinois
