In this series, we've been reading the story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15) from the perspective of the various characters in the parable. This week, Pastor Jon takes a closer look at the characteristics of the Father's compassionate, scandalous love. This, Jesus says, is the kind of love God has for those who come running back to Him!

This week has exposed brokenness once againin our country, in our relationships, and in our own lives. We condemn acts of violence and hatred. We need healing and reconciliation. We need justice and restoration. We need the peace of Christ to rule our hearts and minds. When we don’t have the words, we turn to Jesus. When we are hurting, angry, and exhausted, we run to Jesus. We are in desperate need of the Good Shepherd to lead us together. Lord Jesus, lead us to be quick to listen and slow to anger. Help us act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly. Give us wisdom on how to be peacemakers; agents of reconciliation; salt, hope, and light in the middle of a storm. Lord have mercy. Amen
