Our prayers tonight are with those affected by evacuation orders because of concerns that the Oroville dam spillway may collapse. The Rev. Richard Yale, St. Jo...hn the Evangelist, Chico, is at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds in Chico, which is on 2357 Fair Street, which has been set up as an evacuation center, to be of assistance in the effort. Update: Butte County announced at 7:40 p.m. that the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds evacuation center is full. Another shelter is available at the Neighborhood Church in Chico, 2801 Notre Dame Blvd. (Sacramento Bee). The Revs. Dan and Mary Boeger, St. Timothy's, Gridley, are headed to the evacuation center at the Colusa County Fairgrounds, 1303 10th Street, as is the Rev. Richard Laughman because of the evacuation orders. Margaret Dunning, Disaster Coordinator for the diocese, said clergy and church members in the area are calling and making sure that everyone affected by the evacuation orders is aware of them and can get away safely. "The need now is for those affected by the orders to be in touch with others in the area so that they can make sure that people evacuate and so that others can be aware of where their loved ones are," she said. Caltrans tweeted that the evacuation for Yuba, Sutter and Butte counties includes Hallwood, Marysville, Olivehurst/Linda, Plumas Lake, Gridley, Live Oak and Yuba City due to potential failure of Oroville Dam spillway, the Sacramento Bee reported at 6:15 p.m. The Office of the Bishop will be monitoring the situation and will advise on what you can do if further relief efforts are needed. Please pray with us: Be our light in the darkness, O Lord, and in your great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of your only Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. The Bishop's Appeal is out now! Here's one of the ministries you can help support: The Archdeacon’s Fund for Education - The Bishop's Partnership Appeal is our only fundraising. This fund was established to provide up to $500 in grant assistance for candidates and postulants to the Diaconate. Because of the generosity of the Appeal's participants, we are able to raise the amount of a scholarship from $500 to $750. Aspirants are in formation for a ministry that is not paid and the cost of schooling can be over $7,500. Grant money assists with costs related to education, training and the calling process. Find out about the Appeal and donating to The Archdeacon's Fund here: http://www.norcalepiscopalfoundation.org//bishops_partners

From The Episcopal Church: Our Table is a Dinner Church for those in their 20s & 30s. We gather every first and third Sunday night of the month to celebrate a sacred meal, in the same way the early church did. Together we prepare a meal, eat, discuss scripture, offer up ... prayers and sing. Tied to Episcopal traditions, our worship is rooted in the patterns of the Early Church. We are a progressive Episcopal congregation in Coconut Grove. We welcome anyone who would like to engage in fellowship. Regardless of religious affiliation, sexual orientation, or marital status, all are welcome Our Table. See more
