A True Story About Very Young Restauranteur.. (Sent to Brandon C's who was curious about our Huge Cheese Bowl) When I was 13, I received my first ever restaurant paycheck. I was so proud when I cashed that check, that I went out to a restaurant to celebrate. I was alone, and it was an Italian restaurant, at the time, of the highest calibre. As I arrived and was seated, I ordered the most expensive pasta on the menu. When the pasta arrived, however, no Parmesan was offered, an...d when I requested it, the waiter scoffed and called the manager. The manager rudely explained to me that there is cheese in the dish already and that to add more would cost the restaurant a fortune! Even at 13, I knew what I was hearing was BS, and so loudly proclaimed for all to hear: "You want me to tell you how I know this restaurant will be going out of business? Because you're cheap and you don't appreciate your customers! Here, I am just 13 - I could literally represent 50 years of business to your establishment, and even if I only came twice a month in that time period, that could easily amount to >$100,000, for me alone! And what then if I brought my friends or family? What about my referrals? You think your cheese is expensive? You will see now that not giving me my cheese will cost you WAY more! And I'll tell you this: One day I'll have my own restaurant and I'll have a Parmesan Bowl so big that my customers will be just as happy with me, as I am disappointed with you! They will have as much Cheese as they want! And they will talk about that Bowl, and that will bring me more people to pay for the cheese!!! One day I will do that, but for now I'll do nothing, because I'm just a kid :))) " That kid grew up and did exactly as he said. The kid was me, and today our restaurant, Nico restaurant, is in its 19th year. The place that didn't give me cheese? Out of business. So if you're in town, come on by to see "The Bowl" !
