Request for Speakers -- Vigil Honoring Victims of Anti-Asian Violence Hello! Our community group, Engage Fremont, is holding a vigil to honor the victims in Atlanta and those suffering from Anti-Asian racism everywhere. We are hoping to bring together the diverse peoples of Fremont, California, with speakers that can highlight the need for equity, awareness and intersectional community support. We would like to center Asian women to speak about the need to combat misogyny and... racism, but we are also looking for women that can address Spanish speaking members of our community. We would love to highlight a speaker from your organization willing to speak at this event. The event is this Sunday, March 28, 2021, at Lake Elizabeth in Fremont. Good afternoon everyone, I hope you are all doing well and staying safe! Here is this weeks feature, Sarah Vreeburg our new Vice President. My name is Sarah and I am a proud P2 at Touro University California COP. Although my direct experience in the pharmacy field is limited, I have spent much of my life living out my desire to serve and help others, which is a primary driving factor on my journey to become a pharmacist. As a member of NHPA, I look forward to finding opportu...nities to connect with and serve the Hispanic community while continuing to learn how to be a more linguistically- and culturally-appropriate healthcare provider. I hope that by taking on a leadership role as the Vice President of NHPA, I can establish meaningful and worthwhile opportunities for my peers and I to improve health outcomes and healthcare access for underserved communities, while also showcasing the positive impact that minority providers have on the field of pharmacy. I dream of marrying my love of education and pharmacy to establish conversations and workshops that will encourage young Hispanic students to pursue a career in pharmacy, and hope that I may have the opportunity to spark such interest through NHPA. I am appreciative to NHPA for giving me the opportunity to help people feel fully informed, in control and empowered to manage their health. See more

Nos gustaría destacar el trabajo del El Comalito Collective Cultural Arts Center y las fiestas virtuales de pintura que organizan dos veces a la semana. Join them on Wednesdays at 6pm and Fridays at 2pm PST on their Facebook page. This activity will provide benefits to those individuals that always wanted to learn how to paint and the opportunity to practice Spanish or English since the painting tutorials are guided in both English and Spanish.

Buenas tardes a todos, espero que todos esten a salvo! Aqui esta la funcion de esta semana, Yesenia Revuelta. Soy estudiante de tercer ano y actualmente soy la tesorera del capitulo TUC para NHPA. He trabajado en farmacia durante 12 anos antes de volver a la escuela para convertirme en una farmaceutica. Mi objetivo es ayudar a la comunidad latina en todas las formas posibles, pero lo mas importante es cerrar una brecha en la educacion de la salud. Creciendo en un... hogar hispano, he sido testiga de la falta de comprension de muchos problemas de salud. Mi objetivo es ayudar a educar a los pacientes en un idioma que conozcan y que se sientan comodos al buscarnos si tienen mas preguntas. Creo que cuantos mas hispanos estemos trabajando como equipo, mas podemos ayudar a nuestra comunidad." Good afternoon everyone, I hope you are all staying safe! I have worked in pharmacy for 12 years before returning to school to become a pharmacist. My goal is to help the Latin community in every way possible, but most importantly bridge the gap of health literacy. Growing up in a Hispanic household, I’ve witness the lack of understanding of many health issues. My goal is to help educate patients in a language they are familiar with and feel comfortable reaching out if any further questions arise. I believe the more Hispanics we have working as a team, the more we can help our community."

Hola a todos, espero que todos sigan manteniendose a salvo! Aqui esta la entrega de esta semana de Conoce a tu junta, Alicia Cardenas. Hola, soy un estudiante de primer ano de farmacia en la Universidad de Touro y actualmente soy el representante para el NHPA para nuevos alumnos. He estado trabajando como tecnico de farmacia para la farmacia CVS durante poco mas de cinco anos. Trabajar en una farmacia comunitaria me ha ensenado lo importante que es poder comunicars...e con eficacia con otros para lograr el mejor resultado para el paciente. Como futura farmaceutica, mi objetivo es mejorar las disparidades de salud que prevalecen en la sociedad actual y a traves de la competencia cultural poder lograr una mejor calidad de atencion para los pacientes menos afortunados. Estoy emocionada de formar parte de esta organizacion y trabajar junto a otros farmaceuticos. Juntos, trabajaremos para alcanzar estos objetivos y romper las barreras que actualmente enfrentamos dentro de la comunidad hispana y los servicios de salud medica. "Hello, I am a first-year college of pharmacy student at Touro University and currently the liaison for NHPA. I have been working as a pharmacy technician for CVS Pharmacy for a little over five years. Working in a community pharmacy has taught me how important it is to able to communicate effectively with others to ultimately achieve the best patient outcome. As a future Pharmacist, my goal is to improve the health disparities that are prevalent in today’s society and through cultural competence be able to achieve a better quality of care for underserved patients. I am excited to be a part of this organization and work alongside other pharmacists.
