Today is National Teacher Appreciation Day and we appreciate Mira Loma Teachers SO much (both past and present)! Today we delivered some great donuts (individually wrapped) to celebrate the MLHS educators!
Hey all! Let's help out these talented Matadors by voting for their work! These are art pieces created by MLHS Students and they only have two days left to get our support!
Hey Matadors, want to support ML? Go to Chipotle (of Auburn Bvld) Tuesday from 4:00-8:00pm and MLAF will get 33%! The funds raised from this event will go directly to the classrooms and programs that support Mira Loma's Students! We hope to see you there (or you can order out)
The events and headlines this year has been just been crazy for the current students at Mira Loma, although we all have had to deal with something. What was one of the biggest headlines when you were a student at ML?
I hope you can join us next Tuesday! Please use the code if you are ordering online.
This weekend the Notorious RBG passed away. Some of our alumni her appointment to the Supreme Court was an important historical event. Throughout Mira Loma's 60 years there have been many important historical events that took place during the school year. What important, impactful historical event took place during your time at Mira Loma?
Proud Matador Moment: Did you all see that Mira Loma Class of 1998 Alum Cecil Rhodes was featured on KCRA tonight. He has opened a new restaurant called "Nash and Proper"! We wish him the best of luck and hope that our alumni community will support all Sacramento's small businesses!
We found this beauty looking through our achieves! Has anyone ACTUALLY seen this football! Like if you did! Comment if you know who helped make this possible!
Over this weekend former Mira Loma Principal Charlie Berger Celebrated his birthday! He served as principal from Fall 1985 Spring 1993 (8 years) and is now serving on the SJUSD Executive Board! Happy Birthday, Mr. Berger!
Happy Saturday Matadors! With so many games taking place this weekend, which ones are you rooting for? Don't worry, with MLHS Games on pause until January you're safe to root for any team without having your Matador Spirit called into question lol!
Mira Loma has always had an "International Flair". In 2020 there are two international-focused programs (I.B and I.S) but before the late 1980s (when I.B. came to Mira Loma) there were always exchanged students coming to ML. Do you remember who your class's exchange students were? Anyone still friends with them? Give them a shout out!
We've all been through a lot with COVID-19, but one group we've been thinking of is our local businesses. So many great local businesses have been supportive of the Mira Loma Community and we want Sacramentians to be supportive of them! If you know a business that is Matador owned or has been good to Mira Loma drop it in the comments so everyone knows where to go when they are shopping or need a service! We appreciate it!
We are excited for tomorrow when we distribute all the MLHS Grants to teachers, coaches, and staff that we awarded for the 2020-2021 School Year! We hope everyone shares our respect and admiration for teachers who are working so hard to prepare for such a challenging semester and start to a school year (the pictures below are art kits assembled by our MLAF Elves and filled with brand new art supplies for 165 students)!
The 2020-2021 School Year Starts next week (August 13th). It seems to come earlier and earlier each year? When was the earliest the schoolyear started when you were there?
We are very excited that tomorrow we will be sending out our 2020 MLHS Mini-Grant Awardees list tomorrow! While we can't fulfill every grant, we are so thankful to be able to support the students and teachers for, what will surely be, a turbulent and unique school year.
Ms. Maiello was a great teacher at Mira Loma! She was loved by students and respected by her peers! We hope that she knows how many people she touched and how many lives she improved! If you worked with her or had her as a teacher, tell our community your thoughts, memories or feelings! We will miss her.
This year is definitely a unique year! How are you celebrating this year?
Happy Father's Day Matadors!
