TJ’s first official day on the floor was today! Fresh from his neuter surgery, we thought he’d want to rest, but he was ready to go! Some of the big kids were hissy towards him, but that’s normal and should subside once everyone is acclimated. Our lead volunteer, Lucy, was teaching him how to run on the wheel, not bad for his first time! Definitely stop in for a visit, TJ would love to meet you! We are open Tuesday- Sunday, 12pm to 6pm, last group will be allowed in at 5:30pm. We are located at 2200 Eastridge Loop, STE 1076, San Jose, CA 95122.
Mr. TJ and Misty would like to thank you all for your questions yesterday! Let us know if you'd like us to do something like that more often. Mr. TJ will be neutered tomorrow and will join us on the adoption floor for a short time before his new family picks him up!
Mickey (left) and Sylvester (right) are still looking for their forever home as a pair! They’re our 7 month old, sweet boys that we pulled from the Newman animal shelter! We are focusing on finding them a home this week and only prioritizing their applications, as we are backlogged with close to 200 adoption requests. If anyone has an application in that would like to adopt our sweet boys, send us an email with that request and we will take a look at your application. For tho...se interested in adopting Mickey and Sylvester, and would like to put in an application, you may apply at www.minicattown.org Specify them in your application, we will review them first! All other adoptions are on hold until further notice, we want to make sure they have every opportunity for to find their forever home. Please SHARE them on your IG stories and FB pages to help spread the word! See more
Mistletoe is feeling better now that he is home with @the_kitty_hostel We’re still thinking about what would be best moving forward. Another surgery is too risky and more than we can afford, as we’re still working on paying his current bills. They ended up totaling $8000 for his stay after surgery, we have made about $4000 in donations, thank you so much for helping us! No further intervention is needed at the moment, we will keep you all updated.
We finally received an update for Mistletoe and it’s good news! After the team took off his splint, he is doing better. He can now walk, is responding to visual stimuli, and can be taken off oxygen. He is going home to @the_kitty_hostel today We are currently discussing next steps with his doctors, as the surgery did fail. We’ll be discussing whether having surgery again is the best option for him or do we ultimately allow him to live the rest of his life, however long t...hat may be. Lots of decisions that don’t need to be made today, because it’s Valentine’s Day and our boy gets to come home! Thank you for praying for him and all your well wishes, because it worked! We have not yet raised enough to cover his bills, as his stay was longer than we anticipated, if you’d like, donations can be made on Venmo @minicattown or through PayPal (link in bio). We appreciate any and all help. See more
Update on Mistletoe, unfortunately he isn’t making any improvements. He’s still being monitored under oxygen at the hospital, not walking, not eating, and not responding to visual stimuli. Our options our limited as far as continuing care. We’ve been working with his care team to find solutions. They can remove the splint, which reverses the surgery, to see if he’ll improve or put him to sleep. They are skeptical that removing his splint will help him improve, as his other... symptoms suggest otherwise. We can’t put him to sleep without giving him one last chance, so we’re having the team remove his splint, undo the surgery, to see if he improves. If he does, he’ll be able to go home and we can revisit surgery another time. If he doesn’t turn the corner by the end of the day, it would be unkind to continue care, and a euthanasia decision will have to be made. Please keep him in your thoughts today. See more
#kittenunboxing of this little girl, who was pulled from the shelter today. We sent her off to @meet.the.fosterz for some TLC. She’s very shy, but sweet, and loved chin rubs. We think she’ll come out of her shell with some time and patience. As kitten season comes to an end, our adoption floor will look a tad different. We’ll be pulling some teenage and older kitties from the shelter that were left over from the season, in order to help them find homes. We want to give as many kittens a chance as possible.
Tiny Tim has decided that he will keep the Tiny in his name for now. Our inventory management team, comprised of Rosie and Tiny Tim, have informed us that we’re running dangerous low on some essential supplies! Our biggest needs are: Royal Canin motherbaby canned food, cat litter, shoe covers, gloves, and litterbox deodorizer. Rosie and Tiny Tim have updated our Amazon wishlist: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2VQT4VQEYU6F2 if you’d like to help them and us care for our kittens, we would all appreciate it so much. We understand that this time of year, especially with the pandemic, is tough. We ask that you make sure to take care of yourselves and your loved ones before sending us anything.
They’re so cute, they shared the tent last night.
Simmer down Tiny Tim, we’re trying to melt our brains with trashy reality tv. We had to mute the sound because copyright and there were too many profanities in the background. What’s your fav? We’re really into 90 day fiancé on TLC and Are You the One on Netflix
Waffle and Biscuit want you to know that we’re still open with all COVID-19 protocols in place. Waffle has been adopted and Biscuit is looking forward to meeting some potential adoptive families today. We’re open to the public from 12-6pm, last group enters at 5:30pm. We have limited space and are operating on a walk in basis. When your group enters, you’ll have your very own socially distanced, completely sanitized area to interact with the kittens. Everyone is required to wear a mask and sanitize their hands. You may apply to adopt at www.minicattown.org
Tiny Tina and Smokey met for the first time today! It was kind of awkward, but that’s okay. They will be roommates until both are ready to be adopted. Tiny Tina needs bloodwork to confirm her thyroid levels are normal with meds and be cleared for spay surgery. Smokey still has a few ounces to go before making weight for neuter surgery. Surgery dates are to be determined, as kitten season is slowing down and the vet clinic we use has limited surgery dates. We’re currently searching for an additional clinic to help us with high volume spay/neuter surgery. If anyone has any leads, please send us an email at [email protected]
Pico is the most handsome boy! He and his twin brother Chile are up for adoption as a pair! They are the coolest looking kittens with ticked coats resembling the Abysinnian breed. While they may or may not be of a certain breed because their genetics are unknown, they completely look the part! Pico and Chile are also the sweetest kittens, they love wrestling with eachother and always greet guests as a team, making sure everyone feels welcome. They are the best boys and would love your consideration. You may apply to adopt at www.minicattown.org You may also come hangout with them on our adoption floor, we’re open today from 12pm to 6pm, last group enters at 5:30pm. Location: 2200 Eastridge Loop, STE 1076, San Jose CA 95122.
Tiny Tim is no longer tiny He says he wants to drop the Tiny from his name and just be Tim. We’re not so sure, what do you all think? Should Tiny Tim change his name to Tim?
Smokey met Finny and he thinks she’s a giant cat These two would like to thank everyone who donated supplies to us! We and our 80+ foster kittens appreciate your support.
Special thank you to @birdsofasweater for the beautiful holiday themed cat kickers, our kiddos love them! We specifically purchased handmade toys from them because their proceeds support feeding their feral cat colony.
Jamie Lynn, were you sniffing around the Christmas presents again!? After some interrogation, she admitted she was looking under the tree for a family to call her own She’s one of our FIV+ kittens and sister to Brittany. She is just as sweet, cuddly, and purry. If you’d consider adopting one or both, please send in your applications at www.minicattown.org (link in bio)
Everyone tells us how sweet Brittany is and adopters are always interested in her, but back out when they find out that she tested FIV positive. We know it’s not the easiest thing to hear. But FIV+ cats can live their whole lives with this virus and they can safely live with other cats, as long as they’re not inflicting deep bloody wounds on each other. It is possible that the test is a false positive if she received antibodies from her mom. She can be retested at 6 months of age for more definitive results. As far as functioning in a household with other cats and people, she’d fit in perfectly as she does on the adoption floor. She is friendly, incredibly cuddly, and purrs nonstop. If you’re interested in adopting Brittany, please apply at www.minicattown.org (link in bio)
Smokey is panicking and running in circles because we’re running dangerously low on all supplies! Jk, he just likes running in circles. But we are indeed running very low on all kitten essentials and would love your help if you are in position to donate to our Amazon wishlist https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2VQT4VQEYU6F2 Our biggest needs are Royal Canin Motherbaby dry and canned food, pee pads, litter, gloves, and rescue disinfectant. Please head over to our wishlist to help! We and Mr. Smokey appreciate your time and consideration. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2VQT4VQEYU6F2
Ringo is still up for adoption and says that he’ll be just as loveable, even if he doesn’t get to move into the White House! He’s our longest standing resident and would love to find his forever home by the holidays! He’s outgoing, fearless, friendly, playful, and purrs when petted. We think he’s just perfect. All interested parties may apply at www.minicattown.org and please SHARE him with everyone you know, so that he may have every opportunity to find a home!
Lavern the lap cat is still looking for a home, you can apply at www.minicattown.org
Excuse me, is lunch to your liking?
Our favorite orange guy, Citrus, left to his new home today! He will be taking a cross country flight to Washington DC tomorrow morning with his new parents, Courtney and Pam, in hopes of becoming our next president! You can follow his adventures @thecitruschronicles Don’t worry, he is in the best hands and will be accompanied in cabin, not cargo, with his new parents!
Jamielynn has some news! She’s still up for adoption on the floor and we are still open for business! All state and county guidelines for COVID-19 are being followed. When you and your group enter, you are assigned your own area to interact with our kittens. The area is sanitized before and after your session, using Rescue Disinfectant. We have limited capacity to 10 guests at any given time and everyone who enters is placed in an area that allows for plenty of social distancing from other groups. Masks are required and we have plenty of hand sanitizer to go around. If you’d like to stop by, we’re open from 12pm-6pm, last group enters at 5:30pm
Today, we are teaching Smokey to hunt virtual mice! He seems to like them better than the virtual fish.
Moody Misty isn’t Tiny Tim’s biggest fan
We’re still resolving some diarrhea, mild eye infections, and overall crustiness with our newest babies. These two also cry more than normal and my goodness, it’s loud! They let us know when it’s feeding time and we are not to be a second late! They’ll also cry for some time after drinking milk, which isn’t really typical, but understandable, because they’re probably confused. The crying should resolve itself with a little more time and once they’re feeling better. Losing mom, feeling ill, and adjusting to a human feeding schedule is tough. All things considered, they’re active, gaining weight, and becoming more stable.
Huge spay neuter day today with @snipbus 24 of our kittens from foster care went in this afternoon for their surgeries. They’ll hit the adoption floor in the next few days, which means there will be 30+ adoptable kittens to hangout with! You may put in your adoption applications at www.minicattown.org We can’t stress enough that you must put time into your application. Tell us about yourself and why you would like to adopt. Do your own research about owning a kitten before applying to adopt, to make sure that it’s right for you and your potential new family member. It’s a 15+ year commitment and we want to be able to say yes to people who understand that and are ready to take on all aspects of pet ownership. Best of luck to everyone submitting applications!
A very short film starring Tiny Tim
After vs Before of our guy Smokey
These kiddos were pulled from the shelter last night and they were in pretty bad shape. They’re still looking a little rough this morning, but feeling much better after some TLC.
Currently teaching Smokey how to catch virtual fish
