A lot has happened in 3 years since moving onto a new journey coaching at De Anza College. I am blessed and thankful for all that God has brought me through and carried me. Finished the final week of basketball camps and could not have finished it any better than ending at #mikeallensportsskillscenter in 5 days this group of players put up over 15,000 shots while shooting on the #drdish and the #gun8000 shooting machine. As this summer comes to a close the work is not done yet as I continue to journey to keep making a difference helping players get better on and off the court. The past 2 weeks have been one where I have struggled through prayer as to whether or not it is time for me to take on a new challenge. After much counsel, encouragement & support with opportunities sitting in front of me I have made the decision to take the position as the Head Women's Basketball Coach at DeAnza College. Before coming to Gunderson my coaching career roots has always been in Women's Basketball on the MS, HS and professional level. And even though I am steppin...g down as the Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Gunderson I will continue to act as a player development coach & mentor with the staff that has been with me during my time in support of them carrying the vision of the program representing the community first, the school and basketball program. I am so thankful for God sending me to Gunderson and allowing me to learn so much and receive so much love, support and encouragement in the 8 years I have been there. Another amazing ride for my Gunderson Grizzly Boys. I cannot express my happiness enough as they fought extremely hard all season to represent our Community, School and Basketball Program. Highlights on the season: *started off the season losing 7 out of 10 games *finished 2nd in League at 10-4 *had 6 players with top awards (#11 MRad Abrha - CO-MVP, #34 Christian Futch - Senior of the Year, #20 Bradley Yasuhara-1st Team All-League, #31 Devon Snelgrove- 2nd Team All-League, #...3 Blessing Wells - Honorable Mention, #5 Nedim Sherif - Honorable Mention) *beat West Catholic Athletic League opponent Sacred Heart Cathedral by 20 points in the CCS Division 3 Quarterfinals with only playing my starting 5 the full game. *made it to the CCS Division 3 Semi-Finals before falling to Saratoga HS. Blessed to have 3 former #ballinambassadors on the Saratoga roster I have been blessed to mentor and train. I would say yet again not a bad season for our Gunderson Boys Basketball team for accomplishing so much this 2016-2017 Season. By the end of practice this afternoon we will have shot over 12,000+ shots in practice, focus on our conditioning as well as our defensive principles to be prepare to give everything we can to represent our COMMUNITY, SCHOOL & BASKETBALL program. These two kids came out today and played with all their heart and #11 MRad Abraham broke a record for points scored in the 8 years I have been coaching at Gunderson. He finished with 42 points| 6-9 from 2FG| 8-10 from 3FG| 6-9FT #34 played like a beast finishing with 17points, 11reb,7blocks, 5 Assts. been pushing these guys to be great and they are having an amazing senior season. Gonna miss these boys when they are gone.
