At Midway Optometry, we continue to take the highest precaution to keep our patients and staff protected. In addition to our safety measures with patients, deliveries are dropped off outside the office to reduce contact exposure. You can call us to find out everything our office is doing to keep you safe!
Dr. Matthews and the staff at Midway Optometry are ready to help you get your eyes checked! We have installed a sneeze guard to further protect our patients, and our temperature and sanitizing station is located right by the door. We also are wearing face shields for close contact activities in the office. We are accepting appointments for new and existing patients, and our new office hours are Monday to Friday, 10 AM - 5 PM! You can call us at (619) 224-2973 or schedule one online at midwayoptometry.com.
We are open and ready to see all of our amazing patients! We are only seeing one eye exam per hour so we can follow social distancing while properly cleaning and sanitizing between patients. We are requiring face masks and taking temperatures at the door. Come check out our newly remodeled office! Book your appointment by calling or booking online.
Colored contacts add a vibrant, new look to your face! If you want to wear them, just remember a few things: 1. You need a prescription for them because they are medical devices. 2. Make sure you purchase them from a reputable source. 3. Practice proper hygiene by not overwearing them or taking naps to prevent eye infections.... 4. If you have any problem, contact your optometrist or opthalmologist immediately. See the picture below of our manager, Mayra, with her beautiful Air Optix Colors contact lenses!
Pure&Clean is safe, powerful, and effective! Their hand prep and lid prep are made to kill dangerous bacteria and viruses, and it is FDA-cleared. For various microorganisms, Pure&Clean was able to kill them in the 15-second contact time. It is also currently being tested on human coronavirus. If you would like access to this great natural alternative to harsh-chemical products for cleaning your hands, as well as your eyes, each bottle is $16 at our office. The lid prep can also be used as a makeup remover. Please remember that one of the best ways to keep yourself and others safe from Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and other illnesses is to practice good hygiene. We hope you all stay healthy!
On the computer a lot? Dr. Matthews recommends all patients to utilize the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, take 20 seconds to look 20 feet away to rest your eyes. Remember to take breaks from the computer to reduce eye strain!
One of the best ways to protect your eyes is by wearing sunglasses to prevent UV damage from the sun. Polarized sunglasses are a great option that reduces your chances of developing cataracts and macular degeneration!
A healthy diet promotes eye health. Vitamins A, E, C, B, omega-3, riboflavin, niacin, lutein and zeaxanthin are all great for your eyes. Leafy greens, oily fish, and citrus fruits are great sources of this nutrition. Make sure you get enough so your eyes can stay healthy!
