This has come up recently for several of my clients who are grieving and also asking how to help their loved ones grieve. While it sounds counterintuitive the best suggestions are to tolerate the pain... it’s present, no matter what, and avoiding it is only a temporary fix that reinforces the idea that pain is too much for one to handle. The truth is we are stronger than we give ourselves credit for, so experiencing this is one way to understand and celebrate the strength of the human spirit!
