Today's meeting theme was: 2020, what's next? Great exchange on where people think we are headed to: when will we be back to normal? What's the new normal going to be? Excellent speech from Genesis too. Excellent attendance, 12+ people, enjoying their weekly fun hour!

Today's meeting theme was "Fourth of July." Heard a lot of entertaining stories about people's childhood memories...including when someone in Briant's household decided it would be funny to put a box of fireworks on a lit stove!

Congratulations to our newly-elected club officers for 2020-2021! Oxana (President), David (VP Education), Philip (VP Membership), Marie-noelle (VP Public Relations), Kristina (Treasurer), Bern (Secretary), and Alvin (Sgt at Arms) take office on July 1. We wish you success in the coming year!

In his speech today, Ken shared an update regarding extraterrestrial life in our galaxy, based on research published earlier this month. He described the Drake Equation, Fermi Paradox, Astrobiological Copernican Limit, and his thoughts on whether it would be a good thing for our society to encounter life beyond our solar system.

Some tips that Yoli shared today in her speech on "Leading in a Volunteer Organization": create an environment of mutual respect, be approachable and enthusiastic, and recognize team members for their contributions.

Congratulations Philip for winning 1st place at the District Finals for this year's Toastmasters Speech Evaluation contest! It's about to go down! The final round of this year's Toastmasters Evaluation Contest begins tonight at 6:30pm. Our own Philip Williams will compete against nine other finalists from Northern California and Northern Nevada for the district trophy. Good luck, Philip!

Today's meeting theme was "Greatest of All Time." Table Topics speakers shared their opinions about the most influential inventions, movies, and songs in recent history; and we even got to hear the greatest joke of all time!

Now is a great time to get involved with Toastmasters! We have an active community of members who meet every Wednesday (via Zoom video conference), and we are offering a free welcome gift to anyone who submits a new membership application in the month of May.

We officially have a full month of online Toastmasters meetings under our belt and continue to see strong attendance. Even without in-person meetings, we are getting solid experience presenting and speaking in front of a live audience, with real-time feedback from our peers.
