As America votes today, I share this prayer written by my colleague.

Mesa Verde United Methodist Church 12.10.2020

Romans 5:1-4 CEB, with reflections. As we walk through today, especially, may these thoughts on Paul’s letter encourage you. If you haven’t, please vote. Therefore, since we have been made righteous through his faithfulness, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. -settle yourself today in the peace of Christ. ... We have access by faith into this grace in which we stand through him, and we boast in the hope of God’s glory. -fill yourself full in knowing you are God’s beloved and with God there is always hope. But not only that! We even take pride in our problems, because we know that trouble produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope. -God does not remove problems from our lives. But God does strengthen us to stand up and act to resolve them, with love and compassion. God blesses us with courage, strength, hope, and love. Let us share those blessings today and always. #electiondaydevotion #rethinkchurch #unitedmethodistchurch

If we try to move without being attuned to the music of God and our True Self, what we do will not be beautiful, helpful, or possibly even worth doing. -Richard Rohr In a season of moving in unknown times, moving toward the season of advent, we may find ourselves scurried and scattered. Today, a reminder to take the time to stop and contemplate before, within, and after the movements of the day. Take time to breathe and feel your strength. ... Breathe in and feel God’s love fill the space within you. #WednesdayDevotional #UMC #RethinkChurch

Matthew 22:36-40 22:36 "Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?" 22:37 He said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 22:38 This is the greatest and first commandment.... 22:39 And a second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." Loving Gold seems easy; until life hands us a global pandemic and all that has attached to it. Questions for consideration: What does it mean to love? What does it mean to love your neighbor as yourself? What does it mean to love yourself? In the midst of a time of epic upheaval, take time to let Good live shine. Take time to love both your neighbor and yourself. [image description: a box of pastels stores in the edge of the frame. A piece of white paper with a red heart drawn on it sits on a wood slay table. The red pastel suits aside the paper with the top near the heart drawing. #WednesdayDevotional #ReThinkChurch #UnitedMethodistChurch

Don’t be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you can figure out what God’s will iswhat is good and pleasing and mature. Romans 12:2 We need to free ourselves from the boxes of society, from the confines of the norms. Stretch yourself to be willing to hear and do what God is calling you to do. Let’s center our heart and actions on God’s love. #wednesdaydevotional #rethinkchurch
