In the hospital and the clinic, we screen patients at the door with questions on travel, sickness history, and symptoms, and administer a temperature check, says Dr. Dholakiya. Strokes don’t discriminate: 1 in 4 people worldwide will have one. But up to 80% of first strokes may be prevented. You can reduce your risk and improve brain function. And that’s even more important now, because some factors that put you at risk for stroke such as uncontrolled high blood pressure, smoking, and obesity increase your risk for complications from COVID-19.
