Hello from our September Meeting... Excited to be discussing SolMateo’s upcoming Virtual Holiday Auction! @SolMateo Mental Health Association of San Mateo County StarVista
These last few weeks have been hitting our clients and community hard. With the pandemic and the nearby fires, there hasn’t been much to do outdoors. Our client is showing off her beautifully colored pages, from an art kit that our OT’s put together. Coloring can be so therapeutic! What are you doing for entertainment during these times?
As time goes on, we are seeing more of an impact on our community with the COVID-19 Pandemic. We have partnered with San Mateo County to deliver Case Management Services to individuals in the county who are identified by the Health Department’s Contract Tracing team as needing to isolate. There are various barriers for those individuals to isolation, including rental assistance, employment wage compensation, food delivery and other essential services, therefore we are excited getting ready to assist these folks in their time of need. We have hired two well-qualified Case Managers, Brian and Erminia, and are expecting to hire more as the caseload builds. Thank you Brian and Erminia, for being here, and welcome to MHA! @ Mental Health Association of San Mateo County
Thank you to @knbr for donating these @sfgiants face masks to our clients and staff! We are protected in style! @ Mental Health Association of San Mateo County
In last weeks OT group, our clients and OT’s painted trees. They included advice from a tree. Seek nourishment from the good things in life. Simple pleasures: earth, fresh air, light.
Today’s featured non-profit is the Mental Health Association of San Mateo County, which has helped people throughout San Mateo County navigate the challenges of... mental illness and homelessness for more than 60 years. MHA’s Executive Director Melissa Platte is thankful for the help during this unprecedented time: The funds we received from SMCStrong have allowed us to maintain appropriate staffing levels, provide hazard pay for our shelter staff working directly with clients, and provide some additional essential items for staff and residents. The help has allowed us to ensure the shelter is a safe place for all of our residents and staff during a challenging, and for many frightening time.
