On Wednesday February 3rd, from 3:30-4:30pm, Richmond Promise will be hosting an informational workshop in collaboration with Berkeley City College. This Zoom w...orkshop will provide students with a preview of the BCC enrollment process and also feature specific BCC campus programs that prospective students can take advantage of, as well as highlight key student experiences for a typical BCC student. All students who attend will be entered into a raffle, where we will be giving away four $25 gift cards and a free printer! I have attached the flyer and you can find the RSVP link below. On the final day of gratitude, we wanted to give one HUGE expression of gratitude to the Essential workers that make it possible for us to live our lives day to day. From the people who work in the fields to have food in our grocery stores to the nurses who make sure we are protected, we wish you a happy new year filled with more justice and recognition for the work that you do.

We cannot stress enough the amount of teamwork that was involved in responding to the needs of the community through the establishment of the WCCUSD COVID-19 response fund. This fund would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of WCCUSD in reaching out to families and ensuring that people who needed resources knew where they could turn to. We were able to provide families with assistance and recently provided over 5,110 students with hotspots. We continue to be amazed at the work our fiscally sponsored projects do to encourage more learning opportunities for our students and bring resources to WCC. We currently sponsor over 25 fiscal projects that have addressed areas such as STEM and Social Emotional Learning (SEL). While we’ve partnered with WCCUSD to fund more student counselors, our STEM fiscal projects, such as Calculus Roundtable, Youth Code Now, have provided students with the opportunity to engage concepts by building their own video games or websites. Our work has always been grounded in the WCC Community and we are grateful to all the community partners we work with in the area. This spirit of community was the foundation of the establishment of the Richmond Rapid Response Fund (R3F). Members of community organizations came together to address the inequalities exposed by the current health crisis and together have been able to work towards continuing to provide Richmond families with disbursements and establish a rent assistance program. Happy New Year! As we look to what 2021 will bring us, philanthropy has seen a growth in addressing growing need during the current crisis.
