Today's New Employee Highlight: Brandon Curtis, CPA After heading to the beach and obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Cal Poly SLO, Brandon decided to return to his Sonoma County roots to launch his accounting career. He worked diligently at developing his skills with Moss Adams for 4 years, before deciding that he wanted to find a firm with a focus in Real Estate Accounting. He researched, networked, questioned industry colleagues and was continuously led to... Mengali Accountancy. He admits that our website’s ‘Meet The Team’ page really highlighted the culture he was looking for and that was the final enticement that he needed to prompt him to apply with MA. Q&A with Brandon Who is the first person you told when you got your final CPA exam results? My brother, Aaron. He thought it was hilarious to introduce me to people as half a CPA when I was halfway done with my exams, of a CPA when I had one exam remaining, etc. I was very excited to officially be a CPA & have that joke be over with! Trading Option Greeks, Dan Passarelli If you could give one piece of advice to other young accounting professionals/hopefuls, what would it be? Study hard and get your CPA license! It requires quite a bit of time, effort and caffeine, but it’s all worth it! Brandon’s passion for accounting, investing, and real estate are an ideal match for Mengali’s client focus, not to mention his enthusiasm for the outdoors and all things Sonoma County. Despite transitioning to a remote work environment almost a year ago, we have continued to expand our elite staff! Over the next three days, we would like to introduce to you our 3 newest CPA’s Mandy Flynn, CPA Real Estate Accountant Brandon Curtis, CPA Real Estate Accountant Nicole Millerick, CPA Real Estate Accountant... Today's highlight: Mandy Flynn, CPA While exploring her dream of relocating from her hometown in South Dakota to Sonoma County (where she was married), Mandy came across this local boutique accounting firm Mengali Accountancy. After conducting sufficient research and finding us to be a repeated recipient of the ‘Best Places to Work’ award, she decided to take a leap toward making her dream a reality and applied for the job. Soon after, were a few emails and phone conversations, a flight out to California, one interview at our Healdsburg office; and Mandy packed her bags and headed out West with her husband, Jason and their son, Declan. Q&A with Mandy What are you currently reading?: Present over Perfect & Get Out of Your Own Way If you could give one piece of advice to other young accounting professionals/hopefuls, what would it be?: Remain curious! There is so much to learn in this profession and things are continually changing so embrace the opportunity to learn something outside your comfort zone. Who is your Hero?: My hero is not so much an individual person but all the people out there that have the courage to go after what they want and those who left their comfort zone to pursue their dreams and make them a reality. Sounds to us like Mandy is following in her 'Hero’s' footsteps! And we are so excited to see where they take her! Welcome to the Team, Mandy!
